| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 22, 2006 Clear brown body. This is one malty SOB. Has a big sweet, fruity aroma. Caramel, brown sugar, coffee cake with some port-like alcohol (probably the barrel) on top. The sweetness doesn’t have the sharp caramelized notes of brown sugar or molasses but rather retains their sweet elements and therefore is very smooth and silky with the oily alcohol pooled on top. The same big malts are in the body but it’s marred by pine needle gin. Caramel, chocolate and coffee cake start the flavor with pine needles, alcohol, and unripe apples finishing it off. Good mouthfeel. I’d enjoy the beer more if the alcohol wasn’t so gin-like. plovmand (1740), Helsinge, Denmark
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 15, 2009 Bottle. Bit hazy amber body with a medium off white head. Barley, sweet fruit, light alcohol, brown sugar, prune and tonsof caramel in aroma. Very complex. The flavour is also complex and contains notes of hops, lots of caramel, dried fruit, sweet malt, sweet barley and alcohol. Creamy texture. Other than the alcohol is very profound I love it. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA

Not much of a head. Smells sweet, strong flavors of bourbon, and fruity. Taste is overwhelming of whiskey at first, then it slowly subsides. After the initial disgust of bourbon (i cant drink it much after college) the well roundedness and easy drinking ability of this one shows. Towards the end I was really enjoying the beer and was sad to see it finish. Awesome beer. BuckeyeBoy (1699), Boise, Idaho, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 5, 2009 12 oz bottle courtesy of tjthreh. Pour is cloudy orange amber, with a thin off white head, nice lacing after a quick swirl of the glass. Noticeable floaties in the glass. Aroma of dusty resin maltiness, a bit of alcohol heat. Some floral honey sweetness. Taste is resin, nutty, maltiness - a sharp twinge of alcohol to the finish. Palate is dry, medium, mouth coating, alcohol present. There really is none of the sweetness from the nose in the flavor, in fact this beer did not really taste like it smelled at all. Decent enough beer, but not too complex and a bit harsh for my liking. jimhilt (1695), Bow, New Hampshire, USA

Mouthfeel very slick and oily. Flavor is of sweet malt, ripe fruit, alcohol, and earthiness. Reminds me a lot of Old Stock from North Coast. A very nice brew. Butters (1689), Virginia, USA
