| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 31, 2008 Bottle pours hazed orange amber with not much head, perhaps some surface haze islands. The aroma is vanilla peach and plum malt. The flavor is very fruit focused, mainly plum wine, sweet, vanilla, rum, and some yeast to keep if from being cloying. The palate is pretty rich and filling. Overall, not bad as a border line English Barley Wine, but really sort of misses the point on Old Ale for me. Pretty intoxicating none the less. spector (906), Lancaster, Ohio, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 15, 2009 Thanks to Cheeseman. This might be one of my favorite old ales. Pours thick and dark with a dark fruit, brown sugar and bourbon nose. Flavors are more of the same. Taverner (893), San Ramon, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 19, 2009 An almost vinegar aroma is why it got low marks in aroma. This, however, is a minor flaw. The flavor is old, leathery malts. Lots of tannic notes in this one. Pours copper with minmal head. ogglethorp (891), Ohio, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 18, 2008 Bottle. Pours a hazy mhogany color with a small tan colored head. Aroma is bourbon, oak, caramel, tofee. Flavor is bourbon, oak, dark dried fruits, caramel, toffee. Palate is full bodied, mild carbonation, finishe sweet and boozey! Awesome stuff, I find this to be way more balanced than the Backwoods. GMCC2181 (886), Bear/Elkton, Delaware, USA

Sweet sugary malty aroma and nice touch of chocolate. Taste is sweet sugary malty and a touch of chocolate. Some dark fruits, figs and raisons. Even a bitterness in the end to help balances it out. Easy to drink for a higher alcohol percentage beer. Reminds me of a barleywine...Overall solid beer thanks wolfman for sharing! ***UPDATE***** Stfun hooked me up with a bottle. Pretty much think the same thing as before but a little more impressed. Nice sipping beer. Naven (884), Poway, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 29, 2006 Weird beer. I swear, it tasted like someone shoved 25 pieces of bubblegum in my mouth. The finish was a strange medicine flavor. In the end, i got a little bourbon flavor. If this is what Old Ales taste like, i’ll pass. Thanks. walleye (882), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 27, 2006 from the bottle, poured a cloudy brown with a small tan head that left no lacing. aroma just like the description says aged on bourbon barrels and the boubron comes out nice and strong than some sweetness along with the malts couldn’t get anything else out of it after it warms the aroma subsides a bet. flavor, the bourbon was as strong as the aroma which was a could thing, than along came the malts and sweetness got molasses, and some dark fruits became easier to drink when it warmed
