3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nice amber color with no head. Weak aroma, just a little malty and light vinous notes. Extreme malty flavor makes this one okay.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
A beer of good quality, however not one to my personal taste. The sweetness is way too aggressive for me to the point that it would be hard for me to finish even just one glass.

Notes from 12/24/2010
12 oz. bottle from Binny’s Beverage Depot, Chicago
Ar: Toffee, deep date notes. Light alcohol seems to be present as well.
Ap: Pours hazy deep orange-amber with 1/2" light tan head. Decent lace.
T: Pit fruit sweetness up front brings dates to mind. Bitterness on finish almost keeps it from being cloying, as does the mild alcohol burn.
P: Chewy, thick, sticky body. Medium carbonation.
O: Good winter warmer. The richness of these beers can be a bit much for me without huge amounts of hop bitterness, but I still enjoyed it quite a bit.

Thanks to Sendsilk on BA for sharing this at the Funky Buddha. Has a light brownish color with a thin off white bubbly head. Aroma and flavor was sweet and malty. Nothing really jumped out at me but it was a good solid beer for the style that it’s in. I’ll search this out again for sure.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
The beer pours pure amber, a bit clear with a small white head. The aroma is a bit light sticky sweet with some vague smoky booze. The flavor starts out light and bitter and then the light sweet but potent old ale flavor hits the palate. The body is nice, a bit syrupy but smooth with a light hot ending.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This one has a wonderful nutty and caramel aroma. There was no head to speak of. The brew is similar in color to a strong tea. There’s quite a lot to the taste. It is brutally high in the alcohol taste, though it is well offset with caramel. There is also a high element of bitterness, but it did not take away from my enjoyment. Bitterness and carbonation fight hard for supremacy over the palate with no clear winner. This one is a monster and you shouldn’t pass up the opportunity to try it.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle. Pours a deep, hazy amber with a thin off-white head. Aroma is caramel, buttery toffee, and a little vanilla. Flavor is much the same, with a little unpleasant alcohol heat. That’s what is keeping me from scoring it much higher. I’ll rate again after I taste an aged bottle.

35,5 cl bottle @ O’Hara’s Freehouse. Rated on 09.03.2010
Dark red colour, disappearing head. Aroma is hoppy and sweet with fruits – feels a bit like scotch ale. Palate is a bit too high on CO2. Flavour is sweeti sh with ripe fruits, some raisins, plums and hints of sugar. Too sweet stuff for me.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
A clear reddish beer with a small white head. The aroma is clean grain and sweet malt with toffee. The flavor is quite sweet, toffee and candy with a slight chocolate taste. Good body and the alcohol is not overwhelming.
