2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Toffee-beige colour and hazy. Earthy, toffeeish nose with late alcohol, minerals and shiitake mushrooms. Sweet, with a hard body. Some brown sugar, more minerals and late alcohol. Somewhat uncohesive.

I guess I’m one of the few that thinks this beer really sucks. It actually sucked so bad that I’m somewhat convinced it was a bad bottle.....but then again, I did buy a 4 pack and the others weren’t any better. Whatever the reason, this beer just doesn’t sit well with me. Didn’t enjoy the aroma or the flavor at all.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Amber colored pour with not much head. Weak aroma of alcohol, spices and citrus. It was almost like watered down whiskey with just about the same burn in the belly. Softened a bit as it warmed up but that almost made it worse. Some definite fruits an malt flavor in there as well. I think if the liquor taste was not so prevalent this would be much better.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Sweet malts on the nose with vanilla notes. Pours a golden amber with no head. Overly sweet malts upfront with some spicy notes that are appealing. Over-all just way too sweet.

Amber with white head. Aroma and flavor sour of oak, wood and tannins. Not well balanced

Red-ish orange colour with yeast. Smells super sweet and nasty. Tastes like sugared water.

Half a 12oz bottle into a small snifter
A- Deep garnet, zero head
S- Smells like a European macro-lager, really surprising for a beer this big.
T- Starts sweet, finishes crisp, a bit of vanilla in the middle. Not bad, just nothing noteworthy here.
M- Fairly thick, good carbonation
O- This beer is just bland. A big surprise from such a great brewery. I had a 3 year old version of this a few weeks back and thought it was terribly bland but figured it was past its prime. Its a bit better fresh, but not much.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
In short: A alcoholised dessert cake in a bottle. Boring sipper.
How: Bottle 12oz. Many times. Usually a few months old.
The look: Cloudy orange-copper body toped by a small off-white head.
In long: Nose is boozy (higher alcohols feel) and sweet. Taste is toasted raisin bread, cake, figs, brown sugar, sticky caramel. The beer is excessively sweet, annoyingly so. No hops presence which is not surprising given the style. Alcohol is very present and feels even more than the 9.8%. To make a long story short I’ll say that this beer tastes list a rum baba. Yet another sweet boozy beer getting good reviews that “I don’t get”. I guess I will always be different ratebeerian. Like most I drink too much but my days are lettered.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. A bitter and light sour smell, light alcoholic. The head is very small, beige and fizzy, fast disappearing. The body is brown. A taste of spices, some chocolate, malty, a very own taste. The body is heavy, oily with a soft carbonation. A very interesting beer.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Strong ale. Tastes chemically. Sweet, rich, sour nose...not quite Flemish, but close. Fermented plums, maybe other weird fruits. Little to no carbonation, no head, sort of like vermouth but MUCH more complicated. No hops. Not my favorite, but it wasn’t awful tasting. I just wouldn’t care to drink it again.
