This ale has a wonderul bourbon whiskey flavor, as much as you could possibly want, yet without coming across as a "whiskey wannabe" -- it’s an ale all the way. Additional notes of coconut, brown sugar, oak, some cherry. Nice alcohol warmth. I’m a variety lover, yet this is one of the few beers I feel like I could enjoy every day. Nose is a bit subdued, with dried fruit standing out the most, along with a touch of malty sweetness and bourbon. The flavor is very rich and complex, with the same dried fruit and sweet malt with bourbon smoothing out the flavor. I thought I was misplacing the flavor, but then I read that the ’06 was barrel aged in bourbon barrels and there it was! I am a big fan of this one. mwelsh13 (484), Maryland, USA

The fresh was slightly floral, piney, sweet, wonderful in nose and taste. A fantastic palate. The year old has less hop character and almost no pine, but smells and tastes of carmel and some chocolate. Both beautiful to look at. A fantastic beer. flyerdog (7), Ardmore Park, Pennsylvania, USA does not count | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 1, 2009 I found this to be very complex...when cold it hits you with a light hoppy taste followed by a deep smoky body..the finish is dry and whole. As it warms the smokiness gets lighter and the hops are much more pronounced throughout..pretty amazing actually! Good stuff planky84 (155), , Greater London, England

Malty, barley aromas, some oak. Sweet, intense flavors... definitely can taste the heavy malt characteristics. Surprisingly very drinkable, nice smooth sweet finish. BIG beer with lots of great flavors going on. flyingdutch (2), Michigan, USA does not count | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 28, 2009 Poured a deep amber with little to no head. Bourbon, and floral scent. Complex malty taste with a high hop. Taste lasts, is not bitter and leaves a clean fresh finish. Would recommend.
