Pours a reddish color with a nice head and nice lacing on the glass.

The aroma is burnt sugar, berries, some bourbon, & cherries.

The flavor is big on bourbon, really rich vanillin laden bourbon with some nice spiciness, some red apple, some cherry, oak, and a fruit forward hoppiness. The beer is sweet but the spicy alcohol and the hops balance that fairly well.

Enjoyable.

Draft to oversized snifter at Founder’s. Looks decent; reddish-brown with lots of off-white head. Smells sweet and boozy. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Decent, but not special.

Amber brown pour with almost no head. Buttery scent. Medium body with low but appropriate carbonation. Slight Taste of hops when entering the mouth, malt prevails soon after. I summary, the taste is that of a malty amber. Earthy/salty after taste that is the best part. Wouldn’t say this is an outstanding barrel aged beer.

a blend of three beers, i forget the details (but not because i was stoned). disappointed by the food in the taproom: ordered some kettle chips, and the guy reached under the counter and pulled out a pre-packaged bag of chips. i guess i’ve been spoiled by chicago brewpubs. lively, coffee, slick, leaves, sticky, rocky, spruce, frothy, butterscotch, chocolate

Draft. Served in a snifter. Pours a red tinged brown rust color with a light tan head. Grapefruit and orange rind notes in the nose. Some booze notes as well. Medium mouthfeel. An interesting red, starts with citrus favors and then transitions to a boozy, woody flavor. Overall, meh.

ICEatALAMO (990) - Troy, Michigan, USA - JUL 2, 2012
Draft at brewery. Pours a cherry red with a rim of head. Aroma is sweet bourbon with some malt. The taste is top notch. Some dried fruit flavors, bourbon in the backend. A little hot while drinking, but fades quick. Another first class barrel aged beer by founder's. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Silphium (3179) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - JUN 30, 2012
Draft at Founders, served in a snifter. Ruddy orange-red-brown body, thin to medium buff head. Bitter, rindy nose with notes of grapefruit juice. Hot body, hoppy and grainy with grapefruit rind, toast, and bitter oak. The bright hops, oak, and bourbon are an aggressive combination. I had to clean my palate with a porter.
