22 oz. autographed bottle shared by dbsdelight- thanks a ton, Dan! Pours a deep, hazy amber color with a small off-white head. Gorgeous shade. Aroma of peanut brittle, dried berry fruits, spices, toasted sugar, plums, earth, and mint. So complex and rich. Kept smelling this. Flavor of caramel and toasted malts, mint and other herbs/spices, dark fruits, and earth. Medium-bodied, with a sweet, rich mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Hard to do it justice with my limited vocabulary. This has held up so well and is so unique. Seems like a rich, complex barleywine.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Glouglouburp (4782) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 24, 2011
In short: A cloying, syrupy, fruity and spicy dark ale of some kind. Grossly sweet.
How: Post RBSG party in my hotel room
The look: Dark burgundy body topped by a very small beige head
In long: Nose has plenty of red and dark fruits swimming in caramel and some spices. Taste is sickingly sweet. Very syrupy, sticky, fruits juice concentrate, sweet caramel, cough syrup, spices. Oh well, that beer sucked, but at the end of a party I don’t drink what’s right, I drink what’s left.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 JaBier (3236) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - JUL 24, 2011
Bottle sampled at OBW on 7/13/11. Hazy amber pour with a thin tan head. Malty aroma with some spice and earthy hops and what I can only describe as windex. Malty and spicy flavor to start followed by sweet caramel before an earthy hop finish.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Dogbrick (4837) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUL 23, 2011
Sample from a bottle at Jackie O’s as part of Ohio Brew Week. This beer pours dark brown with a thin off-white head that diminishes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of bready malt, yeast and caramel. Medium body with flavors of biscuity malt, yeast, grassy hops and citrus. The finish is malty with a lingering yeast aftertaste. I did not try the year it came out but as far as I am concerned the beer is holding up pretty well. Above average overall.

Pours a dark golden amber/copper color with a one finger yellowish beige head that slowy fades into a thin ring. Minimal lacing left behind.
Sweet malty aroma with subtle hops and earthy spice. Hints of caramel, toffee, leathery malt and dark fruit.
Medium bodied with sweet caramel malt, rye, biscuit and toffee. Faint floral, earthy hops with a zesty spice character. Slick oily nouthfell with slight boozy sweetness and heat in the finish. Pretty tasty and complex with a well masked ABV.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 GT2 (3961) - Washington DC, USA - JUN 9, 2011
651mL at RBSG 2011 in Philly. Pours a clear ruby with no head. Nose is blackberry, red fruits, toffee, "orange mint" old barleywine notes. Taste is slightly buttery, minty, red fruit and berry heavy with toffee, golden raisins. Pretty sweet and full bodied...comes across as barleywine. Not bad.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 markwise (2914) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - JUN 2, 2011
Thanks askofficerfriendly for sharing this one at IBrew2or3’s going away party. Pours dark caramel with a white head. Nose is liquid caramel, with some esters, fruit, spices, and slight vegetal notes. Flavor is similar with spices, vegetal notes, caramel, and some yeasty esters. Interesting barley wine.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 HonusWagner (796) - Florida, USA - MAY 29, 2011
Almost more of an American Strong Ale than anything else, has some sweet medium brown malt characteristics with minimal hoppiness and some Belgian ester spice notes. Pretty tasty and drinkable, certainly would never have guessed this was 13% ABV.
