4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Reddish amber with a decent off white head which dissipates quickly. Aroma is vaguely earthy with a bit of pine resin and caramel. Flavor is rich and a bit sweet with notes of dark fruit. Hops hit hard afterward, mainly resinous and piney. Very pleasant bitterness, well rounded with a strong amount of malt and some slight caramel flavors.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This is a pretty good beer. It is very bitter with a huge malt backbone. I wouldn’t go crazy over it though. I have had far better beers in my life. I feel a bit crazy having spent $18 on a 4 pack of this stuff. Oh well, live and you learn.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz bottle, $5.99, Kroger Bridge St. Pours deep brown amber with large, white head. Aroma caramel, toffee, malts, pine, light notes of dark citrus. Flavor is hop-heavy and piney but simultaneously quite sweet with caramel. I expected this to be overpoweringly bitter, but it’s really balanced and, despite being almost over-the-top, not horrifyingly bitter. Booze, clearly a high ABV beer without smacking you in the face with alcohol. Full bodied, medium to high stickiness. Really, really good.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Really nice amber-red with a medium head. Aroma is complex, sweet, alcohol. Taste bitter up front sweet, fruity finish and way too much alcohol.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Not a well balanced beer. Tastes more like their dirty bastard vs centennial. Alcohol overpowers everything else of flavour.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle.Dark red pour with a slight, quickly dissipating pink head. Sweet and boozy with fruity undertones. The booziness overpowers the hops. A great sipping beer, but not a lot of hop-forward bitterness for a triple IPA

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle pours a cloudy dark red with a small white head. Aroma was alcohol, caramel, sugar, vanilla, floral, and some citrus. Taste was more like a barleywine than any IPA I’ve ever had. Sweet and boozy with lots of caramel, toffee, sugar, and faint hints of flowers and grapefruit. With 112 IBU I was thinking it would be more bitter, but it had so much sweet notes that it pretty much canceled it out. Ok beer, but not worth the price honestly.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 ounce bottle purchased at HyVee in Cedar Rapids, Iowa while on a trip to visit the inlaws (a hefty $5.49). Pours a dark reddish-amber hue with one finger of off-white foam. AROMA has noticeable boozy alcohol throughout as well as notes of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, perfumy floral hops, citrus, wet pine, and resiny hops. FLAVOR has significant barleywine-type elements with hoppy notes of sticky pine sap and sticky heavy grapefruit, but also a good balancing presence of caramel and bready malts...and some booze. Finishes slightly more sweet than bitter. All elements improve as the beer warms up (and the booziness is somewhat lessened as well). Good, but still a far cry from Pliny the Younger. (1437, 884)
