| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jul 31, 2009 (bottle) Hazy amber body with thin, disappearing head. Aroma is strong with pine and some citrus hops but with other fruity and floral notes as well. Sharp, fresh hops in the flavor. Some sweetness up front, but bitter throughout. Bitterness increases on the way back. Long hop and alcohol aftertaste. Full bodied. riversideAK (2669), Shoreline, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 30, 2009 A couple years old I think. Nose is sweet and malty, lots of caramel, toffee, some brown sugar, light fruity hints of apricot, oxidation, earthy aged hops - inky floral, some tobacco, pepper. Pours an orange amber with a good head and nice lace. Sweet up front. Caramel, toffee, sugars, sweet orange, apricot, all followed by a rather noticeable hoppy bite. Pepper, pine, and floral notes - aged hop bitterness. Some lingering bitterness tones down the huge booze. Would like to try this fresher, but I could see the booze being out of control. Decent nonetheless. arrogantb (700), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 30, 2009 12oz bottle courtesy of dancingcaddis, thanks man! Amber color, short head, looks fine. The smell is spicy hops, weird, doesn’t smell like its 12%. The flavor is hoppy and bitter but nothing super special and makes me wonder why the point of a 12% IPA is. There are so many more IPA’s that are plenty hoppy (Pliny, Sculpin) and don;t have to have a high abv % to do it so I wonder what the point of this beer is...

| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jul 29, 2009 Pour is amber, almost red. Aroma is super hop fruity with a dash of alcohol. Flavor is nice sweet malt with lots of hop flavor that’s not too bitter by any means. Very smooth and easy to drink for 12%. This is quite good and not overly hoppy, cloying, or dry like some huge DIPAs. deyholla (520), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 28, 2009 Tap at MBG Summer Festival. Poured an orangish amber with an off-white head. Amazingly hopped aroma with a quite distinct piney aroma. There was a moment of slight sweetness at the beginning before the intense hops took over with a mainly piney flavor. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 26, 2009 12oz bottle picked up at Dennis Brothers. Poured a real beautiful dark orange with a hint of red, really quite striking. All sorts of aromas, pine, citrus, alot of citrus actually, like snorting citrus zest. Nice and hoppy, not over the top, very nice balance and loads of aftertaste, awesome. Scubatrip (388), Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 26, 2009 From the bottle, pours a watery red with a thin white head. Aroma is purely grassy and floral hops. Taste is dominated by floral hops with some malts and flavors of dark fruits and front yard freshly mowed lawn. This is a goodun. bblack99 (202), Kansas City, Missouri, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 24, 2009 Clear orange-reddish amber with a tiny thin head that instantly dissipates.
Piney spice in the nose, but the tongue is attacked by heat and more heat from the ABV and hop resins. A little too spicy for my taste, but a very complex hoppy brew.
