| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Apr 25, 2009 Updated: Jul 3, 2009Sampled at Dark Lord Day 09. Amber pour with some light head. Big hoppy aroma which is surprising because of the age on this one. Nice, caramel malt flavor with a big dose of resinous hops.Big, thick mouthfeel. Totally awesome.
Re-Rate: Fresh bottle, 7/2/09. Dark, ruddy amber pour with basically no head. Absolutely huge nose. Insanely bitter hops. Heavy, strong caramel malt. Flavor is strong and bitter, some malt somewhere in there behind the assault of hops. Big, chewy mouthfeel. The tongue is nearly paralyzed by the bitterness of this one. Loved it. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 22, 2009 Bottle. Dark ruddy honey-amber with a thin beige head that diminishes quickly but never quite subsides and leaves some nice lacing. Aroma is honey and citrus, resinous hops, extremely fruity, and caramel. Flavor is very sweet up front, fruity and citric around the sides, caramel malt, brown sugar, some vanilla, pine and grapefruit, and quite a bit of alcohol that presents itself as a sort of woodiness . Palate is visibly thick and resinous, chewy, and a bitter burn lingers significantly. Very good and very reminiscent of a barley wine. fonefan (11003), VestJylland, Denmark

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 11, 2009 Self control is harder at times then others. Bottle from Feb. 08. Huge malt on the nose now more then the hops last year. However, considering how many IBU’s this guy was brewed with you can still yes still taste the strong hop flavor in there. Pours a beautiful golden brown color with minimal head as I did a slow pour into a chalice to give this guy some extra air. I have noticed though now that the malt is coming out more very nice and the beer is showing more characteristics of a barleywine. Lots of fruit, hops and malt in the flavor as well as the nose. Full and fuller bodied, you can chew this if you want and stays on your palate well a very long time. Not for the faint of heart. This is aging very well and we will see how it does for years to come.
