Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jan 11, 2009 This one is amber colored without much head. Just a touch. Loads of pine and grapefruit. Strong caramel malt backbone. Strong alcohol presence in the nose and taste. A huge beer that’s fun to drink but maybe not a little too boozy to be great. lebshiff21 (85), Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 4, 2009 Sort of a weird pour. Very cloudy. Lots of caramel in the nose. Lots of thick hops across the palate. Very enjoyable shared with friends. Very thick. Great interpretation. KimJohansen (6645), Copenhagen V, Denmark Dec 22, 2008 Cloudy deep amber with metdium beige head. Sweet aroma with plent y of hops, grapefruit pand piney notes. Flavour is dry with loads hops, grapefruit and piney notes. serious bitter finishs. Lovely! bitbucket (2024), Kirkland, Washington, USA Dec 20, 2008 Bottle. Pours cloudy copper with a lacy pale yellow head. Some citrus and a lot of caramel in the nose. The aroma is almost chewy. Full, syrupy body with moderate carbonation. The taste is hop-flavored candy: starts off sweet, then a full palate of hops powers through with fruit, earth, grapefruit and pine for a long finish. And 13% ABV??? Oh, my goodness... there is really no way to tell. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA Dec 13, 2008 Crushed with Jakebra. Chewy-er than the dude in Star Wars. Another brew from Founders that resembles chewing on a hop, except this one has a sweet finish after about 15 minutes. The roof of my mouth is burning. Alcohol is hidden and converts to euphoria later on. MiP (8793), Sønderborg, Denmark Dec 7, 2008 Bottle, 13%. Spicy hop aroma. Cloudy dark orange colour. The flavour starts off quite hoppy, grassy and grapey aroma hops. Turns quite sweet, almost syrupy. The bitterness is distinct, slightly rough. yespr (11613), Copenhagen O, Denmark Nov 27, 2008 12 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy deep orange to amber with a fully gone head. Dense pinewood hoppy aroma. Solid sweet malty at first but with a very intense dark hoppy flavour following. Quite dominant and almost overempowering. Solid roasted caramel malt for base providing some decent counter balance to this. Drink4Satan (585), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Nov 20, 2008 Pours a visibly viscous copper orange colour with a late forming surge of off-white micro-bubbles that don’t quite constitute a head, lasting for a mere second. Alcoholic enough to produce legs. The nose is intoxicatingly sweet, citric, alcoholic and spicy. The flavour is more akin to a brutal barley wine than an IPA, hence the "Tripple" in the name. It is vinous, zesty, spicy and boozy in the finish and maintains a rich caramel backbone from start to finish. Notes of fig, port, lemon rind, caramel and toasted malt come to mind. The hop finish is intensely bitter, though almost equally citric and sweet and BOOZY. The palate is slightly syrupy, but not as thick as expected. It is fairly carbonated and silky smooth, though there is a slight warming.
