Has a big bold aroma that combines what smells like a huge malt bill and lots of hops since I smell lots of floral hints. Mouthfeel is heavy. Taste is very malty and sweet upfront. As is lingers it is very hoppy and the backside and the finish. The alcohol is hidden well. My brother had one and was dancing with the devil in the pale moonlight. Great beer. jeremyd365 (109), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA

This Devil Dancer was an explosion from start to finish-- I got smacked in the face with hops right out from the pour. I could smell those hops a-wafting several inches above the glass. It was pretty slow-going to drink this baby, but it went down alright. It felt pretty decent in my mouth- hoppy and of course bitter. The alcohol wasn’t noticable until the aftertaste, where I may have breathed just a bit of fire. Overall, this was definitely a fun one, and would recommend to any fellow hophead. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 13, 2008 12 oz bottle at BA Speedway line tasting (provider unknown). Poured a copper color with a small white head. Aroma of older musty citrus(this was probably not a fresh bottle). The taste featured caramel, citrus and earthy breads. The mouthfeel was full and malty. The finish was long with lingering caramel. Overall: Not a bad DIPA but not a great one, must try again when I know I’ve got a fresh bottle. flatmatt (222), Northville, Michigan, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 9, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours deep red with a tiny light tan head. Aroma is pretty much pure grapefruit hops. Flavor is bitter hops and fairly strong citrus/grapefruit hops, some more grassy hops and a little caramel sweetness. The bitterness builds up pretty strongly after just a couple of sips. Alcohol is hardly noticeable except for a bit of burn in the finish. This is very well done. I do, however, question why RateBeer’s description above gives 200+ IBUs while the Founders website only claims 112 IBUs. AgentSteve (1357), SF Bay Area, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 5, 2008 Bottle courtesy of StFun. Pours mahogany brown with a large bubbled, cream colored head when poured vigorously. The nose is wonderfully hoppy with pineapple and floral notes in addition to sweet caramel malt. The flavor is not as hoppy as the nose, with more caramel and molasses standing out, along with noticeable alcohol. A bit smooth and creamy on the palate. The finish is lingering bitter. golubj (1286), Sunnyvale, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jun 4, 2008 Bottle, thanks to alexanderj. Copper pour, no head. Aroma is soapy, caramel malt, citrus / earthy foreign hops. Flavor is the same, more earthy / pine / resinous hops with good flavor and bitterness. I really enjoyed the hopping in this beer. kevd193213 (486), Hope Valley, Rhode Island, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 1, 2008 Bottle. Cloudy thick reddish brown pour with no head. Aroma of grapefruit hops. Taste of sweet caramel and overpowering hops with very little alcohol present, even at 13%. Thick long lasting finish. nefarious (203), Clarkston, Michigan, USA
