kenb (1100), Oregon, USA Aug 7, 2007 12 oz bottle via trade (thanks to whoever sent this..i wrote it down but can’t read my own writing!). Pours a semi hazy reddish brown with an average head that quickly dissipates and leaves lots of webby lacing...or is it lacy webbing..anyways....nose is sweet pineapples, orange, with some woody undertones. Taste is sweet syrupy candy with some vanilla and earthiness that quickly finishes with some spicy hops..I would guess-Centennial, Simcoe, Magnum and 7 more perhaps? The alcohol warmth is there, but is smooth for 13% abv..i have had 9% barleywines that were much rougher than this..oh, they call this a Triple IPA..200 ibus? I don’t think so..maybe when bottled, but this is more like about 50 ibus now, wish i knew how old this bottle is, but i am guessing at least a year....but whatever lol. Tastes like a nice smooth barleywine to me. Body is full, carbonation medium...Nice work, Founders! WeeHeavySD (2932), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Aug 3, 2007 12oz bottle shared with my buddy Cheyne, traded from someone in many trades...Pours murky amber with a tan bubbly head. The nose is huge malty and makes me feel more like an old ale or a Barley Wine. Taste is strong but amazingly hides some alc with so much kick in the end. Pretty damn awesome. polomagnifico (531), Saginaw, Michigan, USA Jul 30, 2007 12oz bottle. Aroma is lovely hopps and fruit. Notes of pineapple and resin. Small off-white head that mostly diminished. No lace. Nice red/orange hue. Flavor is initially sweet and heavy bitters on the long finish. Palate is full and oily flat. Heavy astringent on the finish. Too bitter on the finish but alcohol is well concelled. Lovely brew but too much ick on the finish. sunevdj (1762), Copenhagen OE, Denmark Jul 24, 2007 Updated: Jul 25, 2007Big thanks goes to axilla for trading me this one. (And a little thanks to MIBRomeo who sent me another bottle that didn´t make it, but gave me the urge to get another one.) Pours a clear red with some particles. Off-white foamy head. Smells of abricot and alcohol. Quite bitter with heavy hops aromas of pine, grape fruit and resin. Strong alcohol notes. Tiny hints of grapes, liquirish and pepper. Full bodied. Fizzy soft carbonation. Bitter finish. Yum Yum. jetzler (622), oklahoma city, Oklahoma, USA Jul 24, 2007 Bottle shared with MrRomero. Aroma is hop incarnate, with some sweet medium malts, and alcohol. Taste is full of amariillo hops lots of pineapple and pinecone. Alcohol is not as dominate in the taste, the dominate flavor is HOPS. Decent brew but very one dimensional. MrRomero (1934), Nolanville, Texas, USA Jul 23, 2007 12 oz bottle: poured half clear and half slightly cloudy orange/brown with a thick medium sized beige head. Huge hop aroma. Lots of pineapple, sugary sweet, some spruce and pine. Very full bodied, thick. Lots of hops in the flavor. Gave me a slight bit of heartburn after the first swallow. Sweet midway on the tongue, drying out after the swallow leading to a bitter finish. A very big beer with a ton of flavor but not something I could drink much of. wetherel (1565), Encinitas, California, USA Jul 21, 2007 Bonus bottle from The Epeeist. Thanks Chris! What a great beer. Pours with no head, and countable number of bubbles, and a huge hop aroma. The aroma fades leaving a malty aged hop aroma. Veeerrry nice. Reminds me of a 2005 Double Bastard. I wonder if this bottle has been aged. I can’t tell. Taste is sweet thick and very hoppy, but extremely well balanced. A wonder. Very drinkable. I want more... more. cbeers21 (563), Miami, Florida, USA Jul 20, 2007 Copper-colored with thin and quickly dissipating head. Funky, floral hoppy/sugary smell, and a citus kick too. Aromas remind me of canned pineapples...definately pineapples. Syrupy bodied and smoothed malts yeild to a quiet push of hops towards the finish. Alcohol is very well concealed despite the high abv, it is decievably drinkable.
