Commercial Description:
Founders most complex, most innovative, most feared and yet most revered ale produced. Massive in complexity the huge malt character balances the insane amount of alpha’s used to create this monster. More IBU’s than any brewery has documented, more than you would believe and dry-hopped for twenty-six days straight with a combination of 10 hop varieties. Dangerously drinkable and deliciously evil. We dare you to dance with the Devil. 112 IBUs

A dark amber pour with little to no head. A hops aroma that is there but not over powering it also has some maltiness mixed in. A flavor that has some malt on the front that is taken over by the hops which are closely followed by the abv. Then the IBU’s kick back in for a long lasting very pleasant bitter. Drinking temp is critical in this beer more than most as this beer warms the abv really comes forward. Never hot in my opinion but always warm. Mouthfeel and palate are solid for a beer this big I think it is spot on in the palate. A demon to say the least I feel bad that I drank it all alone ah heck maybe not:)

Medium brown in color, cloudy, with a light tan head and light lacing. Aroma was rich and hoppy. Flavor was just alright- hops were not as strong as I would have liked. I tasted a lot of malt, which was surprising- more than I was expecting for a triple IPA. Strong alcohol flavor as well. All around it was good, just not what I was hoping for.

(Bottle) Pours an amber color with a white head. Aroma of citrus. Taste is primarily of grapefruit, with light pine and some sweet malts as well. Sticky mouthfeel. Reminded me almost like fermented pineapple juice. Yes it’s hoppy, but I wouldn’t consider it any more hoppy compared to other popular DIPA’s (even at 200 IBU). Having said that, it’s a good beer... but not as good as I expected.

12 oz bottle. Poured a slightly hazy, fiery orange-red color. Head was yellowish-off white with good retention and lacing. Overall the aroma and flavor were malt dominated. Aroma was of molasses, subdued grapefruity hops, dired fruits, and a touch of soy. There was also a hint of chocolate covered cherry at times. Slightly sweet up front. Full bodied with a slick mouth feel. Hop bitterness was prevalent throughout and peaked toward the end. The degree of hop bitterness never struck me as 200+ IBU’s, however. Layered flavors of toffee, light malty molasses, cherry, and cotton candy.

12 oz bottle from Julios. Amber in color/dark orange with a medium off white head. Aroma is alot of caramel and citrus hops, with some pine. Taste is very big as I expected: tons of malt, and a good amount of citrus and pine hops. Bittering is moderate. Body is very syrupy, which makes sense as this is a 13 % IPA- IMO this is an american barleywine and not an IPA. Alchohol is pretty well hidden.

Bottle courtesy of HogTownHarry- thanks for the fresh bottle of liquid death! Appearance is cloudy tangerine, minor amount of soapy head that dissipates quickly. No lacing to speak of. Aroma is a fresh pine forest. Taste- holy shit is that hoppy!!! Waves of bitterness (grapefruit rind, pine) are pulsating out of this nasty bugger of a beer. The inside of my mouth is a dehyrdated mess after a few sips. Must be a fresh bottle! Caramel malts try to bring a little something to the dance, but its tough. Mouthfeel is pretty quite good. Carbonation is low, but this is not nearly as sweet and cloying as I though it might be. Without a doubt, this is the most bitter beer I’ve ever had. It would make DFH 120 IPA weep like a child in fear of it. Thank christ it only comes on a 12 ounce bottle- you’d be in the fetal position after a bomber. Thanks Harry- this was F’n great!

bottle....aroma: subdued and smooth citrus hop nose with a nice blend of caramel malt.....appearance: dark orange brown with a barely noticeable off-white to tannish head. good amount oc lacing....taste: pretty smooth as it first hits the mouth. lots of sweet malt, maple and then it takes a huge turn towards the hopside. piney and mouth puckering with a long lasting bitter finish. a sharp ending to a smooth start.

Holy S...! This is the single most hoppy/bitter drink I’ve ever tasted. Pours an amber/orange color with a small white head. Huge hop aroma with a cloying, rock candy scent in the belly of this devil. The alcohol wasn’t as noticeable as expected, but I could still feel it almost instantaneously. Sweet flavor with a ridiculous hop flavor. Phenomenal.
