Commercial Description:
Founders most complex, most innovative, most feared and yet most revered ale produced. Massive in complexity the huge malt character balances the insane amount of alpha’s used to create this monster. More IBU’s than any brewery has documented, more than you would believe and dry-hopped for twenty-six days straight with a combination of 10 hop varieties. Dangerously drinkable and deliciously evil. We dare you to dance with the Devil. 112 IBUs

bottle....aroma: subdued and smooth citrus hop nose with a nice blend of caramel malt.....appearance: dark orange brown with a barely noticeable off-white to tannish head. good amount oc lacing....taste: pretty smooth as it first hits the mouth. lots of sweet malt, maple and then it takes a huge turn towards the hopside. piney and mouth puckering with a long lasting bitter finish. a sharp ending to a smooth start.

Holy S...! This is the single most hoppy/bitter drink I’ve ever tasted. Pours an amber/orange color with a small white head. Huge hop aroma with a cloying, rock candy scent in the belly of this devil. The alcohol wasn’t as noticeable as expected, but I could still feel it almost instantaneously. Sweet flavor with a ridiculous hop flavor. Phenomenal.

Bottle: Pours a muddy copper with very little head. Nose is strong of malt, caramel, dark fruit, and hops. Taste is loaded with malts, caramel, and deep piney hops. More malt presence than expected for the style and a hot ABV. Fun to sample, but not one I’d seek out. Thanks Eithcubes.

Pours a very deep copper with no head. Aroma is very hoppy with some citrus coming through. Taste is bitter hops with a nice blend of pine and citrus. Malty sweetness provides a decent base to keep it drinkable. Mouthfeel is a little on the syrupy side. Definitely a sipper. Fine DIPA but not exceptional IMO.

Huge sweet malty mess helps anchor this crimson beauty...because the PNW hopping threatens to slide down the palate like a sled with sandpaper runners...all pine resin and citrusy grapefruit buckling the tongue as it hits bottom. What a very fine bitter brew.

12oz. Bottle: Very hoppy aroma with citrus notes and a little alcohol. Poured dark amber/orange in color with a very small tan head that disappeared quickly. Cloudy with floating particles. Heavily bitter flavor. Flavor of citrusy hops, caramel, and a little pepper. Medium body. Oily texture. Soft carbonation. Bitter finish. Overall, the 13%ABV is well hidden. Still, it’s hard to believe this beer is 200 IBUs. Either my tastebuds are shot, or this is more like 100 IBUs.

07 bottle. Pours a dirty reddish brown with barely any head to speak of (despite glugging the last fourth of the bottle in the glass). Aroma is surprisingly balanced with malts in addition to the expected hops. The hops give off some lemon/ginger aspects and maybe a hint of grass, while the malts smell of raisins, cookie dough, caramel and sugar. Nice. Tons of malt flavor hits first, with some brown sugar, caramel, toffee and gingerbread. Hop flavor is somewhat bitter, but surprisingly smooth. Some grapefruit and light lemon in the taste. Finishes with a lingering woody bitterness that sticks to the throat and won’t let go. There’s still some gingerlike hop flavor going down the throat too. Carbonation is low and the beer is more slick than creamy. Slightly sticky, which I don’t mind. Thanks to Walt for putting this bottle in my forgotten cooler, it was a nice surprise.

The aroma didn’t let onto the quantity of hops in this thing. The colour was very reddish and there wasn’t much of a head. The flavour is fantastic. It’’s very thickly malty but bam is it full of hops. Graprefruit in there a bit, but strong citric acid\ness and lots and lots of bitterness. fIt’s not offensive in any way, despite the overload of hops.
