Commercial Description:
Founders most complex, most innovative, most feared and yet most revered ale produced. Massive in complexity the huge malt character balances the insane amount of alpha’s used to create this monster. More IBU’s than any brewery has documented, more than you would believe and dry-hopped for twenty-six days straight with a combination of 10 hop varieties. Dangerously drinkable and deliciously evil. We dare you to dance with the Devil. 112 IBUs

Pours a beautiful amber color with a small off white head. Aromas of dark and citrus fruits. Hops galore with a nice malty finish. Smooth and dry mouth feel. Great IPA. My first beer from Founders and I am not disappointed.

This is what I want in an IPA, WOW! Extremely dominated by the hops. Pours copper coloring with slight head. If you like strong IPAs this is a must.

Bottle: Pours a dark and semi cloudy orange rust color with a 1 finger white head. Aroma is carmel and hops. Flavor is at first sweet but quickly turns to a pretty harsh hop bite. Lots of carmely and toffee flavors but the hops dominate it. Hard to pick out citrusy or spicy or floral hops in this just because it is so strong. Pretty thick and creamy body hides a lot of subtletys. Very good but not complex to enough to be the best. Fantastic if you are looking for the most bitter though.

At this point it looks like a nice brandy in my glass. I’m almost done and the alcohol on this is surprisingly sneaky. Aromas of sweet caramel and a slightly piney hop smell as well. Taste is smooth, bitter on the backside and leaves a nice sugary taste when all else is done. I swear I got tastes of strawberries at first. That gave way to a more intense plum and raisin flavor. Very enjoyable here. Thank you sir.

12oz bottle, courtesy of artusory (?). Thanks, Ryan (I think)! Pours a cloudy, orangish-brown color; minimal off-white head. Enormous, hoppy grapefruit and earthy aroma; resiny and concentrated. Full, chewy mouthfeel: hides its alcohol; plenty of grapefruit and orange hops, balanced out by a firm maple syrup / candy sugar malt backbone; huge hop presence; very dense and flavorful, to the point of being a bit much. Lengthy, citrus hop and malty finish.

12 oz bottle. Strong floral and citrus hop aromas. very stong hop profile and very sweet malt profile. Tremendous flavor but not much balance as the sweet and the bitter hit you at different times.

This beer is exceedingly bitter, even by DIPA standards. Nonetheless, it tastes quite good (assuming you like bitter) and is very drinkable for a beer with such a high ABV. Recommended. This beer poured a-not-too-shiny copper red with a good amount of head which quickly faded to a thin lace. Aroma is quite hoppy and sweet...the hops smell almost caramel-y. Flavor is highly bitter and astringent...you taste the bitterness in the front of your tongue, and you feel it in the back of your throat. This beer is quite dry and crisp and masks its 13% ABV quite well. Very drinkable for a DIPA.
