Commercial Description:
Founders most complex, most innovative, most feared and yet most revered ale produced. Massive in complexity the huge malt character balances the insane amount of alpha’s used to create this monster. More IBU’s than any brewery has documented, more than you would believe and dry-hopped for twenty-six days straight with a combination of 10 hop varieties. Dangerously drinkable and deliciously evil. We dare you to dance with the Devil. 112 IBUs

Bottle via trade. Wow, didn’t realize what a bruiser this one was until I actually poured it. 12%, damn! Pours cloudy amber with a tiny off-white head. Aroma is in your face and awesome with loads of citrus, pine, and resinous hops, as well as a little malty sweetness. Flavor is caramel malt, grapefruit and resinous hops, tropical fruit, and alcohol on the finish. Slight oxidative notes, but nothing too bad (Note to Founders - twist-offs suck!). Palate is oily and syrupy with a little alcohol burn, and fairly flat, which I’m guessing is also due to the twist off cap. Still, very good TIPA overall, and I can imagine it would be awesome if it weren’t for the bottling.

Bottle Pours a cloudy copper with a thin off white head. The head lasts well, and produces excellent lacing. Has a good aroma of citrus, pine, and some alcohol. Has a decent carbonation. A slight alcohol burn but the flavor is good. Mildly hopped. Decent amount of malt balance. Has a resiny texture. Has a full body. The finish is good with a solid aftertaste. This one packs a punch but is good.

very unimpressed. I was hoping for a mouth wrecking IIPA on this bottle and I was severely let down. It was a decent beer but not anywhere near the level that I was expecting heading into the beer.

Bottle from theisti - shared with my fatherin-law (who’s normally a newcastle/boddingtons guy). Aroma is really sharp peanut shells and resiny, cannabis-laced pine. Flavor is, as expected, an assault of strong flavor, first the hops (fairly subdued compared to what I was expecting), then a nice caramel/toffee maltiness, finishing with sweet plums and the warming alcohol. Pretty oily and mouth coating. It’s good for it’s style, yes, but half a bottle was enough for me. Thanks for sneding this one, Tim.

So hoppy. The bitterness just lingers and lingers after you swallow. Wonderful to sip. This is more alcohol than I like, but done really well.

12oz bottle. Pours deep golden ruby amber with minimal head. Aroma of citrus hops and caramel malt with a touch of alcohol. The taste is hoppy but not very bitter. Balancing malt and alcohol sweetness makes this much easier to drink than expected. Full-bodied with an oily texture. A nice beer but not worth the $7.50 a bottle.

Bottle courtesy of drowland. Clear orange with red tinges. Tons of sweet hops on the nose. Wow lots of hops. Stings the nostrils. Taste is very spicy with lots of hops. Musty yet aged and tasty. Great finish which isn’t too dry. A little boozy when warmed.
