jason (1620), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 20, 2007 Bottle from Santa(iowaherkeye) thanks! Poured a cloudy brown/reddish body with thin head. Aroma is like a hop punch to your nose. Flavor is very hoppy. Very sweet and malty, with a nice carbonation to it. Good for a cold night. Good beer. f351c4v (404), Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 19, 2007 Pours a dark copper color with a lasting white head. Aroma is bombarded by sweet malts and a deep hop character, but not a crisp, citrusy hop. Sugary malts are immediately counteracted by a heap of hops, citrusy unlike the aroma. Smooth and very easy drinking for the ABV. Deceptive, awesome! Thanks Ron! awaisanen (1279), Irvine, California, USA Jan 18, 2007 From a 12oz Bottle. Pours a slightly muddied ruddy amber color with some fiery orange hues and a thin crop of pleasant foamy beige head. Typical coloring of many barley wines, but this isn’t overly surprising given the high ABV. Hoppy aromas of grapefruit zest and freshly juiced tangerines waft from the glass in a dense concentrate. Some dark chewy caramel and red grape seeds form an interesting malt backdrop. Full bodied, crisply carbonated mouthfeel. Oh, wow. This is a fabulous variation of the style. Creamy vanilla and spicy fruit cake floods onto the palate with a wave of sprucy hops. This transitions interestingly into some scotchy maple and rhubarb pie. This is quickly and boldly replaced by another wave of piney gin-like hops that are supplemented by a bit of pecan praline. Very nice overall - a powerful hoppy slap, chewy malt base, and a huge, fairly well hidden alcohol base. Thanks, Tom! wheninhell (485), louisville, Kentucky, USA Jan 16, 2007 pours thick clear copper with a light brown head that settles into a thin film. aroma dominated by piney hops. toffee like malt undertones with warm alcohol. intense bittersweet flavor. bitter toasted nuts pine and spicy alcohol. thick full sticky mouth feel. bitter sweet spicy toasted finish. nice warm alcohol throughout. very nice. its a hopbomb but it has character. almost barley wine like. DMRz (218), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jan 15, 2007 Interesting dark amber color. This has the most intense fruity, sweet, and complex hops aroma that I have ever experienced. It is multi-dimensional with intense yet balanced bitterness with citrus undertones - almost sublime. I am not sure if I can still consider this a beer with hops and alcohol at this ridiculous level (perhaps hop-wine??), yet it was very enjoyable and certainly pushes the limits of IPAs. zug4abby (287), San Diego, California, USA Jan 11, 2007 Can’t remember who I received this bottle from so... thanks! Very hoppy aroma with a very small amount of sugary/sweetness noticeable. Color is a cloudy, medium brown color with a very rapidly disappearing off white head. Flavor is very sweet (almost like sugar) with lots of hops present. Slight notes of an alcohol type warming and just the tiniest bit of wheat present as well. Very sticky with a lingering bitterness on the palate. ford9719 (369), Vilseck, Germany Jan 8, 2007 Bottle. Thanks to Styles. Poured a redish brown color with no head. The aroma of hops and oranges. Taste lemon is awsome very good beer. railcat1 (578), Orlando, Florida, USA Jan 8, 2007 This was a thick malty strong beer.Dark mahogany with a rich caramel taste and a sweet bitterness, alcohol is there and well hidden.
