COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Founders most complex, most innovative, most feared and yet most revered ale produced. Massive in complexity the huge malt character balances the insane amount of alpha’s used to create this monster. More IBU’s than any brewery has documented, more than you would believe and dry-hopped for twenty-six days straight with a combination of 10 hop varieties. Dangerously drinkable and deliciously evil. We dare you to dance with the Devil. 112 IBUs

Smells sweet. Obviously very high alcohol taste. No head. Dark amber. Hints of malt concealed by alcohol content. This is good.

Bottle. Pours a reddish copper color with minor white head. Big hoppy aromas with some caramel. Big hoppy and very bitter flavor. Really big flavor, but not really my cup of tea, I think it’s a little overboard.

Don’t like the name of this. Saw it was a Founders triple IPA, though, so I got a bottle. Aroma of heavy, sweet malts with some floral qualities. Bitterness hits more in the aroma the more it sits. Orange-red appearance. Tightly bubbled head with even lacing, if not in huge amounts either way. Flavor follows the aroma’s suit - heavy malt at first, then a big bitterness explosion that sits on the tongue for a very long time. The bitterness is quite complex as well - grassy, herbal, and red amber-like sweetness. It’s almost like a triple amber ale, actually. An interesting and certainly flavorful beer that is obviously best tasted in small amounts due to the alcohol and hopping extremes.

Asa’s Pre-Flight Tasting Beer #9. Did a vertical with a 2012 and a superfresh 2013. This rating is based on the 2013. Pours burnt orange with a white head. Scent is citrus. Big bite on the front end, but it is well balanced with a sweet finish. Bottle - Sherlock’s - Decatur, GA

Did a linear tasting with a 2012 found at Laura Albert’s on Daniel Island, SC and the 2013 from Ale Yeah! Decatur, GA. The 2012 completely lost its hop flavor and produced a beer with no bite that was very sweet. The 2013 was hoppier then hell and spicy. 2 completely different beers.

From 12 oz bottle. (With any luck will be tasting on tap tomorrow.) Amber with a finger of head that hung around for a while. The most subtle 100+IBU I've tasted yet. Very interesting hoppy taste - subtle yet definitely THERE. aftertaste very fruity and enjoyable. For a porter/stout lover, one of the best hoppy beers I've had yet. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from a bottle. Clear amber, offwhite head, and good lacing. Aroma is big caramel and bread; the hops are resin, grass, earthy. Less hops in the aroma than I was expecting, but picking up significant grapefruit hops in the taste. Its bitter, but not overly so - balanced by heavy caramel malts. The mouthfeel is heavy and chewy. Overall, pretty interesting beer; it’s 12% and although you know its in their, it’s relatively smooth drinking. Drink one if you can find it.

This really drinks like a classic barley wine. Nice sticky mouthfeel with some alcohol burn. Very good beer. Not sure it’s quite worth the money though.

June 13, 2013 - bottle from AV3. Clear amber pour with nice head that lasted and lacing. Aroma was caramel, malt and a combo of piney, floral and earthy hops. Taste starts sticky sweet, then moves into an earthy and floral bitterness that lasts a while. Ended with a dry alcohol finish. Relatively smooth and thick and chewy. Bottled 5.30.13.
