Founders most complex, most innovative, most feared and yet most revered ale produced. Massive in complexity the huge malt character balances the insane amount of alpha’s used to create this monster. More IBU’s than any brewery has documented, more than you would believe and dry-hopped for twenty-six days straight with a combination of 10 hop varieties. Dangerously drinkable and deliciously evil. We dare you to dance with the Devil. 112 IBUs

A beautiful deep reddish amber pours from the glass and looks heavy as the head forms. A thick frothy finger thick head is off beige and has thick bubbles. Really great lacing and some slight alcoholic legs. Really thick caramel and malt notes are the first on the nose and they’re followed quickly by strong booze and hop notes. Marijuana, citrus, and grassy notes are all present. The malt here is really the strongest stand out on the nose. Surprising for a Triple IPA. Lots and lots of roasty caramel and malt on top. Followed closely by burning hops that take a few sips to adjust to. A boozy character in the center takes a moment to shine but really helps the entire beer showcase the hops. Citrus is the strongest hop character along with a slight piney flavor. Thick and heavy in the mouth carried well by a decent amount of carbonation. Great overall. Incredibly thick, rich and flavorful. Although the caramel and malt slightly steal the show. This shouldn’t be considered an IPA but something more akin to a barleywine. A bit pricey but something I look forward to trying year after year.

Bottle from Alko. Pours dark amber with small white head. Aroma and taste both have malt, hops, alcohol and some spices. It is very bitter and definitely didn’t taste as strong as 12%, so it was very drinkable. Very good!

Mild smell of hops. Copper colour, beige head. Aroma of hops, spruce, grass, finishes with alcohol. Amazingly hidden ABV. Medium carbon, viscous texture. Bitter. Heavy body.

355 ml bottle. Clear coppery colour, thin off-white head. Caramel-malty aroma with sweetish fruity notes, citrus and pine. The flavour is caramel-malty, with notes of dried fruits and a heavy resiny-hoppy finish with notes of pepper. A little alcohol warmth in the aftertaste. Intense and enjoyable.

12%ABV. Triple IPA. Poured out dark amber. 16ºSRM. Nose is sweet and dank. Ripe citrus. Papaya. Caramel and burnt milk aromas. Mouthfeel is syrupy. Palate is deeply sweet with corn syrup. Other toasty flavors with some creamy, nutty flavors. I get some candied pecans. There is some broad fruity sweetness in the middle of the palate. Overall the palate is dominated by hops and alcohol. Hops are pine on the front briefly, then bitter melon, then spicy with cilantro and wild scallion, there is a bit of sweet spice that is reminiscent of a walla walla sweet onion. Finish is long. Bitter melon and resin and fresh pine needles lingering on the back of the tongue. Goes on Favorites List !

Bottle. Clear amber color with white head. Aroma has lots of sweet fruits, alcohol and hops. Taste is very malty with long very bitter and a bit sweet aftertaste. Flavors of pine, needles, caramel, alcohol, grapefruit and hops. Very hoppy and high in alcohol but still nice to drink.

Sampled a couple times. Feels like a torrent of red tropical fruits, more of a hoppy barley wine maybe. Pretty smooth and devilicious.

Intense caramel malts, overripe tropical fruits, rotten mango, passion fruit, resin, pine. Slightly hazy, dark brown, medium, creamy, off-white head. Medium bitter. Initially sickly sweet caramel, molasses, bread malts, then resin, pine, very bitter, full bodied, dry finish. Interesting IIPA, very intense, would not have guessed the ABV, quite harsh finish. Bottle from Discount Liquor, Milwaukee.

On tap, Craft Bar Grayton Beach, FL. Pours dark orange with white head. Maltiness and hops on the nose. Caramel, cereal, herb-y resinous twang, hops all over the place, super balanced. In the mouth it’s more of the same but here you see just how incredibly balanced this brew is. Strong malt character countered with crazy hops and they somewhat cancel each other out. On the finish is where there’s a lingering bitterness. Medium bodied brew. At 12% the booze is totally hidden and it’s pretty crushable. Aside from the powerful bitter finish which I don’t mind but am not crazy about, I really enjoyed this beer.
