Commercial Description:
Founders most complex, most innovative, most feared and yet most revered ale produced. Massive in complexity the huge malt character balances the insane amount of alpha’s used to create this monster. More IBU’s than any brewery has documented, more than you would believe and dry-hopped for twenty-six days straight with a combination of 10 hop varieties. Dangerously drinkable and deliciously evil. We dare you to dance with the Devil. 200+ IBUs

Beautiful clear copper with almost no head. Aroma is syrupy sweet with citrus, pineapple, and after a while the hops come away to reveal the earthy malt. Wow, this is a rich product, and strong with alcohoppy goodness. This thing toasts my tongue. Malt is also strong, but it barely keeps up with the rest of the brew, which stays with me minutes after I sip it. Rating #500, and I’m quite pleased with my selection! $5/12oz

Bottle at Cooper’s Scranton PA. What a delicious malt bomb with some overdone hop infusion to boot! I admit, the smaller treasures of this beer may be hidden underneath this blast so the complexities get overshadowed somewhat. The dryness and texture is good but the hops lose character. The pirate restaurant delivered once again.

Thanks cpferris for the trade. Hazy dark red-amber with a thin, very fine medium tan head. The aroma is for all intensive purposes is that of a barleywine: dark caramel malt, fruity alcohol sweetness, spicy hops, and thick, resinous caramelized citrus hops. The flavor is again dripping with thick, sustained bitter resin and dark citrus hops with some more spice that again very much leaves the impression of an American barleywine. The body is shockingly dry for how malty this beer comes across. The 13% alcohol is amazingly well integrated. This one is huge and unwieldy but maintains its balance and poise nonetheless--true to its namesake. That being said, however, read "triple IPA" as "barleywine."

Bottle courtesy of Secret Santa Ty5592. Pours a beautiful hazy orange with a soapy off white head. Aroma of tons of hops, malt, and some earthy notes. Flavor is huge malty sweetness and insanely well balanced hop bitterness. Goes down the hatch with a nice Slick oilymouthfeel. I somehow think the hops have faded since this was released a while back because this is a lot maltier and less hoppier than I thought it would be. Regardless even with a little age on this this is one hell of a brew. Definitely gonna do a trade next time this brewed so I can try it fresh.

Amber to red in color with a light beige colored head. Smell is pine, citrus, caramel, and sweet. Taste is a nice bitterness with the pine and citrus coming from the hops, but it blends and balances well with the malts. Alcohol is well balanced in the to the brew as well. Medium to full body. Good beer.

an absolutely wonderful triple. this gay rating system requires that i put down 75 characters to explain how much i like it. so.....if you try it, youll like it. it burns alittle from the high alchohol content, but its worth it. fantastic.
