Commercial Description:
Founders most complex, most innovative, most feared and yet most revered ale produced. Massive in complexity the huge malt character balances the insane amount of alpha’s used to create this monster. More IBU’s than any brewery has documented, more than you would believe and dry-hopped for twenty-six days straight with a combination of 10 hop varieties. Dangerously drinkable and deliciously evil. We dare you to dance with the Devil. 112 IBUs

12oz. bottle thanks to Sully. Cloudy dark amber/orange color with a small off white head. Sweet citrus hop aroma with a good malt background. Bitter hop flavor with some orange and lots of malt to almost balance this out. Slightly astringent with a big alcohol finish.

Bottled. Happy New Year 07. Beer is clear, medium-dark caramel brown. Head is small, off-white, frothy, mostly diminishing.
The aroma is hop-dominated. Light note of toasted grain, sweet moderate note of caramel malt is hidden by heavy hop notes of resin, grapefruit, moderate orange zest, dried apricot; Trace note of attic.
The flavor is heavily sweet, moderately acidic, moderately-to-heavily bitter with a long, moderately sweet, lightly bitter, warm finish.
The body is full, the texture is syrupy and the carbonation is lively.
Not bad, but not earth-shattering. I think it’s notable that this hop combination and strength is a bit reminiscent of the taste of ear wax.

Got this from Styles and or jtw, both serious traders. This is a cloudy, murky brew that is the color of orange blossum honey.Itis very heavy on the piney resin, grapefruit of the hops but if you sniff deep enough, the alcohol will hit you.But it is surely lacking in any defined taste. The hops are there but the sweetness of the malts has put camouflage on them.

Thanks retorp for the share. Pours a caramel brown with a white head. Nose is strongly caramel and pine. The flavor is horrendously sweet malt, lots of caramel sweetness, and love blended together to make a unique beer. Very noticeable alcohol presence; not sessionable at all. This beer is on up with some of the best Triple IPA’s I have had.

Pours dark clear copper with a very small beige head that dissipates quickly to a ring leaving bits of lacing. The aroma leans toward a barleywine with the heavy caramel malts and dark fruits. there are some citrus hops in the nose as well. In the taste, there is a more prevalent citrus hop kick up front before the malts and sweetness take over in the middle and leaves a sticky sweet finish with a hint of bitterness. The mouthfeel is sticky and medium bodied with little carbonation. This is a DIPA that borders on a barleywine with a slightly abrasive feel that keeps it from being great for me and holds down the drinkability a bit.

Bottle courtesy of styles: Deep amber/mahogany color with the smallest of white heads. Aroma is huge hops(citrus, grapefruit, spruce), berries, pear, caramel, toffee, hint of plum, and spice. Medium bodied, oily slick, light carbonation. Taste is biting hops, grapefruit, melon, apple, grass, citrus, spice, pepper, light alcohol in the roof of your mouth, bread dough, caramel, bitter chocolate, rye?, almond, mild roasted malt, bitter salad greens. Finishes medium dry, with an almost burning spicy & grassy hops taste in the mouth and nose. Though balanced would be an incorrect word to use here, I do like the large amount of malt sweetness and alcohol in the background.

whoa bitter. this had some aromas of hay and dirty socks with some apple, rye, whisley, clovers, parsley, and burnt hops. this was so bitter it was hard to drink. but still enjoyable. lots of grassy and earthy kinds of hops and malts.
