COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Founders most complex, most innovative, most feared and yet most revered ale produced. Massive in complexity the huge malt character balances the insane amount of alpha’s used to create this monster. More IBU’s than any brewery has documented, more than you would believe and dry-hopped for twenty-six days straight with a combination of 10 hop varieties. Dangerously drinkable and deliciously evil. We dare you to dance with the Devil. 112 IBUs

From a bottle. Pours clear amber with virtually no head. Interesting aromas of ripe citrus and caramel. Complex flavor profile, tropical fruit, caramel and pine resin... Enough malt backbone to balance the intense hop presence. A sipper... Would like to try a BA version... Needs a different categorization... Pours a delectable rose hued copper colour. Aroma of golden syrup mixed with a hint of lemon juice. Beautifully balanced taste, ever so slightly harsh at the finish. Beautiful beer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Marstonlad (758) - Helsinki, FINLAND - SEP 23, 2016
Bottle from Alko Arkadia, Helsinki. Pours fairly clear reddish brown with a big, frothy head. The intense aroma features dark fruitiness, caramel maltiness, toffee and a mix of pine and resin – potent, and bursting with hops. Taste is light to medium sweet initially. Quickly it receives a dose of brutally strong hoppiness that sweeps the sweetness from the board; citrus fruits, pine and resin are present among various flavours that come up. Bitterness reaches formidable levels. Alcohol warms but does not feature in the taste. The palate is full-bodied and a bit sticky, low on carbonation. Intense and dangerously good.

Bottle. Slightly hazy dark golden pour, with a red tint. Nose is malty, taste nice and bitter with a clear malty note. Full body, soft carbonation.

355mL bottle from Slowbeer. Bottled on 05/02/16 Pours a devilish red body with a creamy beige head atop. Potent hop aroma - melon, citrus, passionfruit, guava, grass with brown caramel & toasty malts providing a richness. Seriously big from the word go - no doubting this has a high abv - slick texture, oily, chewy, long & substantial with some heat on the finish. Body oozes hop resin - bitter orange, grapefruit, citrus leaf resin, pine sap, guava peel & passionfruit rind - its very full on, with a syrupy sort of toffee malt presence lending extra sweetness amongst a powerful smack of hop bitterness. Huge IPA!

355 ml bottle from Systembolaget poured in to a Snifter. Bottled in May ’16. Hazy, amber red colour with a thin, off-white head. Fruity aroma with pines, citrus fruits, resins, rich caramel malts and a toasted note. Taste is bitter. Full body with an oily texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes long lasting dry and bitter with heavy pines and caramel malts. Hints of booze. A big, heavy beer. Very American. Maybe even too much of a good thing?

Little head and lacing. Rich Amber color. Piney hop aroma. Sits well on the tongue for being 12%. Strong alcohol taste but finishes well. Good big beer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle pours nearly mahogany color with a persistent tan lacy head. Huge root vegetable aroma with dank hops. Full-bodied balanced taste with dirty hops popping through. This 12% monster tastes more like an imperial scotch ale than a triple IPA. Overall, very well balanced considering its ABV and if you like heavy scotch ales this will probably delight you. If you’re looking for more of the Russian River triple ale style it will delight you less so.

Bottled. Copper colour, small slightly off-white head. Aroma is caramel malts, some fruits, mild toffee and resiny notes with mild sweet alcohol as well. Flavour is quite strong on the floral and fruity bitterness, but also has some sweet malts, mild alcohol as well as some nutty and slight spicy notes to it as well. Big brew, but still very balanced.

Appearance: Dark mahogany/copper; short-lived, medium head. Slightly translucent. Smell: Of course very hoppy; blends of earthy & piney hops jump out followed by soft syrupy sugar and spice. Taste: Immediately hoppy up front with an array of earthy hops just like the nose. Transitions into a dark caramel & honey sweetness before finishing up with more (tart) hops and a warmth of booze. There are some spicy notes going on here, too, that lingers with the hops in the finish. The bold hop flavors are backed up by malts & sugars; all balanced very well. Texture: Full body with very low carb; definitely hot from all that booze. Overal: Despite being 112 IBUs it’s not overwhelmingly bitter; all of the hops are balanced with some spice & sweetness. The alcohol at 12% is quite well hidden, but the finish really shows how hot the beer really is. I’ll confess that IPAs aren’t my go-to style and that I haven’t had many “triple” IPAs of this caliber, but this one is for sure a favorite!
