merlin48 (352), New Tazewell, Tennessee, USA Jul 12, 2007 I must admit that when I was first introduced to this about three years ago the nomenclature of "triple ipa" was a bit intimidating. This is still an intimidating beverage. Nice looking pour reveals a radiant cherry amber body with a small and quickly vanishing beige head. Huge aroma of all kinds of hop notes backed an equally large backing of maltiness. Citrus rind, pine, spices, and earthiness jump all over the chewy malt profile. Syrupy maltiness, resinous hops, and hot alcohol all bounce off each other. Aggressive, challenging, and still memorable. Keep away from children.

Pours a beautiful hazy orange with a soapy off white head. Aroma of tons of hops, malt, and some earthy notes. Flavor is huge malty sweetness and insanely well balanced hop bitterness. Goes down the hatch with a nice Slick oilymouthfeel. I somehow think the hops have faded since this was released a while back because this is a lot maltier and less hoppier than I thought it would be. Regardless even with a little age on this this is one hell of a brew. Definitely gonna do a trade next time this brewed so I can try it fresh. travita (762), Lewisville, Texas, USA Sep 15, 2008 Amber to red in color with a light beige colored head. Smell is pine, citrus, caramel, and sweet. Taste is a nice bitterness with the pine and citrus coming from the hops, but it blends and balances well with the malts. Alcohol is well balanced in the to the brew as well. Medium to full body. Good beer. coyotehunter (6), , Alabama, USA does not count Sep 10, 2008 an absolutely wonderful triple. this gay rating system requires that i put down 75 characters to explain how much i like it. so.....if you try it, youll like it. it burns alittle from the high alchohol content, but its worth it. fantastic. Dezzilu (176), Versailles, France Sep 8, 2008 Wicked hoppy aroma and a beautiful deep amber color. Truly something to behold in the glass. Flavor is one-dimensional, but MASSIVELY HUGE - Hops. The finish was incredibly bitter and long-lasting: well after the last swallow I couldn’t shake the taste. This beer is a bit of an enigma to me. Why go to all the trouble of making it so darn powerful if in the process all flavors except the hops are destroyed? I don’t doubt that under the right conditions this beer could make one believe that all is right in the world, but I have yet to find that happy place. Sooooo, for me this beer is completely over-the-top. Swalden_28 (640), McKinney, Texas, USA Sep 2, 2008 Bottle thanks to ericandersnavy.
Pours a very nice cloudy deep amber with beige head. Aroma is very hoppy and obvious alcohol notes that blended very well. Flavor is of nice strong hops, sweet malt, alcohol to boot that blends in smoothly. Mouthfeel is full bodied heavy beer, med. carbonation. Overall this is very nice.......has warming effect.
