COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Founders most complex, most innovative, most feared and yet most revered ale produced. Massive in complexity the huge malt character balances the insane amount of alpha’s used to create this monster. More IBU’s than any brewery has documented, more than you would believe and dry-hopped for twenty-six days straight with a combination of 10 hop varieties. Dangerously drinkable and deliciously evil. We dare you to dance with the Devil. 112 IBUs

Pours cloudy amber. The nose is caramel and hops. Comes across the palate as caramel, honey, and hops. Excellent heavy sipper.

aroma..caramel,floral,citrus,pine and resin pretty much in that order of strength..high marks for appearance a cloudy deep red/orange with a filmy off white head the color is very unusual..taste is like the aroma the malty sweetness hits you first then the bitter tingly citrus and spicy qualities catch up in a big way well balanced but strong on both the sweet and bitter sides, slight alcoholic burn..full bodied a bit sticky amd thick textured.long bitter dry finish makes you want more..very good brew would buy again but would be better without the huge malt backbone

This has an incredibly strong aroma of passion fruit and mango, mostly passion fruit, but both being aromas I dislike. Have to drink without breathing. A strong citrus flavor mixed with a ton of alcohol.. Very expensive. Very happy I bought a single as this is the rare highly-rated beer that is a total bomb for me. Super dry finish as well. Just a terrible way to end the evening. Poured some out. Easily my least favorite founders beer.

Bottle. Pours cloudy and red with a medium small head. Aroma of dense hops, malt, and alcohol. Flavor is powerfully bittersweet. Mouthfeel is thick. This is nice and all but it gets to be a chore to drink.

Great aromas wet aromas of green onions. Deep Amber but clear. Lasting tan head. Thick body, rolls out with a medium bitter carried by the malts, the malt drops away and it gets kind of boozy. Then a nice hop bitterness carries it home.

Pours a deep dark orangish amber color. Aromas of big hop action, sweet malts, and more hops. Flavor has some bready maltsy tastes with nice grapefruit and floral hop taste. This is one hoppy sumbitch.

Restrained citrus pine aroma in a copper pour. Huge hop/malt body is both complex and subtle - and exceptional given the strength. An excellent brew that has to be a benchmark of the style (TIPA/Barleywine).

Pours a dark amber/red with a big off white head. Head doesn’t last long. Aroma is filled with malts and pine. Taste is quite strong/boozy with lots of bitterness and malts. Hints of orange coming through as well.

Pours an almost ruby red with a medium white head. The aroma is biscuity, malty, pine and a quite strong alcohol. The taste is very strong malty taste, biscuity again and a punch you in the jaw and kick you in the nuts bitterness.

4/15 Batch. Pours a reddish color. Has a huge florals smell. Has a medium a palate. Has a sweet malty taste. A toasty nutty taste. Finishes off with a sweet but dry aftertaste. Almost cascade floral hop. This is interesting and complex beer to drink.

Pours dark orange, almost copper, with medium head disappearing fast. Aroma: heavily dominating malt aroma, paired with oranges, mandarins, some biscuits in the background. Taste: tons of malt followed by nice oranges, citrus and a brutally long (in a positive sense) hoppy palate with a warming effect from the alcohol. Overall a fantastic brew, however, I was hoping for the malt to be less present and more covered by tons of hops (particularly in the aroma). But to be fair, I must say that I am drinking this beer almost 11 months after bottling date.
