4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle to green glass mason jar. Pours a amber / yellow with sparse head. Nose is of pine cones & grapefruit. Great thick and lingering mouthfeel. Lots and lots of hop goodness on the taste. Citrus and pine. Complex. AVB is masked very well, but you know it’s there. 12%...yikes!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle This is a big IPA. Your first sniff lets you know strap in for the ride. The D/IPA pours a cloudy amber with a small off white head and modest lacing. Your nose is greeted with a piney-citrus aroma. The taste is more complex with a malty resin like flavor. There is a fruity taste that mingles with the bitter hops and high ABV. I have been told IBUs greater than 100 can not be detected by our taste buds. The ale has a medium body with soft carbonation. The finish has hop resin in the upper mouth that closes out each swallow.

Richy Rich! Big bold massive mutha of a beer. Aroma is full, robust crystal clear malt blast, magnificently married with sweet, slick, voluptuous hops. Presents itself in my gold-rimmed snifter with a deep orange-hued amber distinctiveness, topped with a bubbly, creamy tan foam. Tastes of ridiculously rich, sweet, caramelly malt goodness, richly and regally reveling with luscious layers of densely-wrapped complex hop flavors that dance devilishly across the tongue. Did I mention rich? Devitasting!

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear dark amber brown with a beige rim head, streamers of lace. Taste is power malt and alcohol that is cut by medium hops in the finish. It is more strong alcohol than anything else, making it okay, but not particularly enjoyable.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Never had a triple IPA before; here’s to hoping this ale lives up to the hefty price tag ($15 for a 4-pack) and the RB rating. Smells of pine hops, honey malt sweetness, and a slight amount of booze. In no way does it smell like it should be 12% ABV. Pours out dark and slightly thick for an IPA. Wonderful amber color with a nearly white head. Foam sticks around - surprising for the strength of this beer. Hoppy up front, then sweet, and finishing with more hops and a slight alcohol burn, which I actually like. Although the hops smell like pine, the taste is all citrus. Not as bitter as I thought it would be. Think of this as a less bitter version of Stone Ruination. Almost as good as Hopslam. One of the best palates I have had in an IPA. I recommend this one for anyone who likes a huge hoppy IPA.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Nikki’s - 5 months old (sorry, still going to review it.) Amber-brown with a heavy haze, thin cream-colored head, fine, fades to film with sea foam patches. Aroma is a fruit medley: pear, berries, orange, as well as some dark caramel notes. Flavor is huge caramel, substantial but clean and non-astringent bitterness, with a sherry-like finish. Body is medium-heavy with a moderate carbonation with some burn, not too prickly for the body weight, but still prickly on an absolute scale. A nice sipper, still not up to my expectations given the ratings; however, I wholly believe that if this had been brewed within the last month, my experience might have been entirely different.

Great reddish hued golden, headless, Fruity sweet.... Very hard to believe there are are over 120 IBU here. Cherry aroma, wood, hay, grass, earthy, finishes sweet, very very little in the way of hop expression. No discernible hop aroma or flavor at all.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Crisp, hazy copper and orange coloured body with a bronze glow and a thinnish, one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of alcohol, rich resinous hops, pine, pears and tons of pit fruit and caramel sugars. Full-bodied; Super rich hop flavours at first with a resinous and piney flavour make way to a large malt body and pungent sweet flavour that is very viscous. Aftertaste shows a lot of pineapple, raisins, toffee and caramel and somehow, even more alcohol and body. Overall, a very nice beer of course, but this is way closer to a Barley Wine than an Imperial IPA. Great to sample and definitely worth trying if you can find it! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Tyson’s Corner (Falls Church) on 05-June-2014 for US$5,49 sampled at home in Washington on 21-November-2014.
