4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle to green glass mason jar. Pours a amber / yellow with sparse head. Nose is of pine cones & grapefruit. Great thick and lingering mouthfeel. Lots and lots of hop goodness on the taste. Citrus and pine. Complex. AVB is masked very well, but you know it’s there. 12%...yikes!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep reddish copper with small lacing. Nose is caramel, candy lace, very sweet. Taste is candy-like, with some bittering. Nice thick mouthfeel. It’s an interesting brew that’s more like a dessert beer.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught sample at SBWF.
Heavy malty like a barley wine with hop oils. Extra of everything and over the top, good but too much.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma is very citrusy, definitely grapefruit. It has a very dark copper color and barely any head. Taste is very intense.. mostly citrus, a good amount of hops, and... alcohol. It might be a bit strong for my taste. Overall it does taste good. Just not sure if 12%abv beers are for me

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sample @ SBWF. Hard to rate and describe. Tastes a bot like a overhopped barley wine or a bock bier on steroids. Notes of pine needles, marzipan and grapefruit.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
"toeing the line of double ipa and becoming something else completely. a barleywine? a strong ale, like a 120 minute ipa lite? dark orange, just about red, super thick. reminded me a lot of Unearthly, but with an additional bitter hop kick at the end that unearthly did not have. Very nice. Definitely a sipper. Thanks John!"

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
A clear copper body with a thin fast fading head. Aroma was a mix of caramel malts, alcohol, some vanilla & some pine hops. Flavor was initially sweet, pine notes were more prevalent and the alcohol rounded out the flavors. Easy to drink. Decent beer.

As far as IPA’s are concerned this is a great one! Extremely lacy head. The hops flood out of the bottle. Notes of citrus, bitter grapefruit. It is fullbodied and flavorful. You can taste a brew that was well thought out, laboriously made. Beyond being an IPA, which is my least favorite beer, this is a great American beer, period! Here’s to the same place that gave us Grand Funk Railroad and GMC! Cheers!

Pours a dark opaque orangish red with a small white head. Malty aroma with a hint of alcohol and caramel. Its been a while since I’ve had a high ABV IPA that doesn’t smell like a tropical island. Taste follows the nose. Smooth medium body beer, really good. I saw where people could only drink 1, amateurs I’m going to see if I can finish the 4pk.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
2014/09/15 - Pours a translucent dark amber colour with a creamy, beige head that lingers and leaves minimal lacing. Aroma is huge toffee/sugary malt, caramel, pine, citrus, mild roast, wood and a hint of alcohol. Taste follows nose; sweet toffee and caramel up front, with a citrus and pine base and a woody, mildly boozy, roasted finish that is both bitter and sweet. Mouthfeel is oily with average carbonation and a drying, slightly warming finish. Very enjoyable. Love the balance between sweet, roasted and bitter.
