COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Founders most complex, most innovative, most feared and yet most revered ale produced. Massive in complexity the huge malt character balances the insane amount of alpha’s used to create this monster. More IBU’s than any brewery has documented, more than you would believe and dry-hopped for twenty-six days straight with a combination of 10 hop varieties. Dangerously drinkable and deliciously evil. We dare you to dance with the Devil. 112 IBUs

Thought this was as complex a beer as I’ve ever had. The alcohol level is too high for this to be a real throw-’em back session beer (as is the price), but it’s a real treat. resin, citrus, alcohol, pine, and probably lots of other stuff if I really thought about it. Fantastic beer.

Smell is a bit like sweeter hops but mild, very cool reddish color, taste is quite hoppy and alcohol on front but mellows out to a little sweet and tasty, hops the whole way though very low malt...hot alcohol through a lot of it..very harsh if you drink slow

Bottle from Total Wine. Pours Amber with very little head. Not much on the nose, but then you take a sip. Wow! Deep malt backbone followed by a long, dry hop finish. It has the heavy mouthfeel of a barley wine, but then those 112 IBU's hit you. Exceptional and unique beer. Highly recommend.

Caramel, candied orange, and brown sugar in the aroma. Taste is initially caramel and orange, some berries in there too. Next is very grassy hops and alcohol booze.

UPDATED: JUL 17, 2015 Refrigerated 12 oz. bottle, bottled on May 4, 2015, poured into a glass. Dark Amber with small beige head. Aroma is dank hops, medium/thick body, syrupy texture, medium/low carbonation, and small-bubble lacing. Taste is dank hops, strong malt, and bitter finish. Heavy and not much grapefruit hops.

Aroma of dark fruit, pine resin, but also an off plastic-rubber aroma, and a touch of acidic cherry. Appears clear bronze, not much fizz. Pretty balanced sweet and bitter profile, bready malts and yeast stand out more than hops. Palate is oily, could be more fizzy. Overall, it is ok.

UPDATED: JUL 18, 2015 3 months. Bottle. Deep bubbly amber. No booziness. No head. Sweet raisin syrup nose. Very syrupy. Very raisin, fig. Mild hoppiness. Aged to barleywine very quickly (even though my party stote only got this beer in a month ago... grumble) or it just straight up lacks the bittering quality of hopping.

Bottle to pint glass. Deep copper color. Miniscule head. Aroma is floral, maple, caramel, brown sugar. Taste gives a quick pop of hops and sugar, then fades to woody, Ashy, tar. Pretty tasty considering how much punch this beer has. Not my style but I can appreciate it. Above avg Carbonation. Beer leaves a tingle behind....maybe that’s the 12% becoming slightly unmasked,. Glad I tried this.

Pours ruby amber with a one finger tan head with nice lacing. Aroma is of candied citrus, dank hops, caramel sweet malts, dried fruits, pine neddles, ligjht toffee, and some light booze. Taste is candied citrus, sugar coated pine neddles, sweet malts, caramel, toffee, bready malts, and booze. Has a medium body with a semi creamy mouthfeel and a semi dry, pretty bitter, yet still somewhat balanced by sweet malts, long lingering, semi boozy, warming finish. Overall, a pretty tasty beer that almost seems more like a american strong ale to me and maybe a tad too boozy, and overpriced for what it is.
