Commercial Description:
Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

dark red brown with tan head. moderate carbonation. sweet malt nose with a hint of floral english hops. some hop bitterness that is quickly replaced by a lot of malt sweetness, likely low crystal and some upper crystal and a hint of roasted malt. for a scotch ale i would prefer some smokey and peated flavors, but this version doesn’t really open up to reveal those. honestly, tastes more like an irish red ale, with sweetness and roastiness. not impressed

Pours a deep reddish color with some amber hues and a creamy off-white head. The aroma was musty brown sugar and caramel with a touch of fruit and spice. The flavor is very similar, but not too sweet as I find some Scotch ales. Very creamy body with some noticeable alcohol in the finish. A solid beer from a solid brewery.

Bought a six pack at Giant Eagle, then bought another. Pours a very impressive reddish gold with a fine head, but not very much of a scent. Nice powerful taste, I swear there’s a punch of liquor after the nice malt taste. I’ll probably be buying more soon.

Bottle. Bought att the brewpub. Very special tanks to Freddie! Pours very dark red, almoust brown. No head on this. I expected a more destinct aroma from this than I found. Aroma is mild from malt, butter, wood and burn sugar. Flavor has roasted malt, little spicey peppery from the alcohol. I also find some tar. Palte is medium.

This beer pours a muddy brown with a creamy. Smells amazingly of booze and rich caramel malts. The flavor follows the nose on this beer. Strong boozey flavor up front with a deep rich caramelly malt background. This is a fairly complex beer, with a very minimal hop presence. I’m glad it isn’t overly sweet, yet the malt background is rather thick and actually. I enjoyed this one.

A beautiful amber color with just a little head, deep amber color. The malty and smoke flavors compliment each other very well. Medium body little carbonation. One of the best scotch ales I have yet to try

Tap, from growler filled at Party Mart. Dark rich clear amber brown color that, when held to light, reveals a great ruby red hue. Khaki head with descent retention. Roasty caramel, oak, nuts, and hops on the aroma. Favor had all of the same characteristics but a bit more potent on the whole. Sturdy hop profile. On the palate - turn the keg pressure down please. Overall: a solid beer that I wouldn’t call sessionable but would call interesting.

Very bold! Not usually a fan of the smoke flavor but this beer had just the right amount . Aroma was of bourbon and scotch. Flavor was carmel and malts.
