COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

Reddish brown, with a low head and moderate carbonation. Malty but not very sweet, and this works well. Balanced with some hop bitterness, nice. Alcohol very well hidden. It’s a good beer. Wish it was bottle conditioned though.

Tulip glass. Dark amber with a dark tan head. Malty, roasty and peaty. Deceivingly high in alcohol. Pretty smooth.

From the bottle. Not much aroma but I do detect some caramel. Full bodied with a slick mouth feel, Complex malts on the palate, Caramel, biscuit, not sure if I get much peat like people have mentioned. It’s sweet but certainly not cloying. Finishes clean and is very well rounded overall.

12 oz bottle pours a hazt brown/amber color with a small off-white head and good lacing. Not much to smell, but aroma is intersting with lots of caramel, some nuts, molasses, toast, and maybe even peat. Taste is slightly bitter and chalky. Body is at least medium with average carbonation.Very enjoyable, and hides the ABV well.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear dark copper with minimal head. Aroma is mostly caramel and some citrus hops. Also, a good bit of dark fermented fruit, oak and some boozieness. Taste is light bitter and light sweet. Lots of caramel and citrus hops with dark fruit and oak. Full bodied with a creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, very good. I would love to drink this again.

Bottle at the Bridgeville Beer tasting on 04/27/12. An above average scotch ale. Tasty! Boozy scent over a pale copper pour. Pale muted hop fronted taste with a boozy finish that was more of an alcoholy booze than other scotch ales. Hints of candy and spice mixed in the aftertaste.

12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled 2/15/2012. Pours very hazy dark reddish brown color with a 1 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Some nice spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas of big caramel, raisin, molasses, plum, biscuit, toast, toffee, and light herbal. Nice and well balanced aromas with good strength. Taste of big caramel, toast, prune, biscuit, raisin, peat, molasses, light chocolate, toffee, and herbal spiciness. Fair amount of herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, molasses, raisin, prune, peat, toasted biscuit, light chocolate, and herbal spiciness for a good bit. Very nice balance of flavors with good complexity; and no cloying sweetness. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very nice creamy, lush, and slick mouthfeel as expected. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming after the finish noticed. Overall this is a great scotch ale. Nice flavor balance, with a good amount of robustness and complexity; and very smooth to sip on.
