COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

Pours dark amber with a low head. Aroma is malts. Flavor is sweetish malts and some hops. A bit boring but decent.

Bottle pours red-brown with a tan head. Aroma shows roasted caramel, brown sugar, light smoke, and berry. Flavor shows sweet malt and earth with underlying notes of dried fruit. Overall body is moderate to full, and finishes with a touch of warming alc.

Good beer. This beer is a nice medium of grain profile to hop flavor. The complexity of grains are enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours reddish brown (opaque). Smells of caramel and some hay. Taste is lightly bitter with a bit of alcohol on the finish. Mouthfeel is fairly thick.. but not quite chewy. Scotch Ale is not a top style for me but this is pretty enjoyable.

Thanks zielinski. Tasted from bottle into nucleated pint glass. Poured a dark reddish-brown color with no foam, just a small film of beige bubbles. Vigorous swirling kicked up a small, mildly aromatic head which quickly subsided, leaving a little Belgian lace. Smelled a little like caramelized brown sugar, toffee, distant earthy and citrusy hops, light compost and smoke essences. Very hoppy flavor: tart, tangy, bitter orange rind, with a rich malt sweetness masked underneath. Much hoppier than a true-to-style Scotch Ale, but this is a remarkable enhancement. A well-crafted balance which is still reminiscent of a classic, dark and complex style. Medium body. Full, creamy mouthfeel, low carbonation. Long-lasting bittersweet aftertaste. I don’t think they barrel-aged it, but somehow it seems that way, hints of toasted hardwood, peat, Scotland. Very tasty.

Pours a nice amber color with a small head that dissipates quickly. smells like alcohol and sweet red fruit. Taste strong and thick for an ale, warm alcohol, a little brown sugar. After taste was a little weak and funky. A good beer if you like this style.

Pours a hazy/granulated, dark amber with a small brown head. The aroma is nothing to write home about. It some hint of hops and malt and it smells a wee bit like scotch, and I like my scotch. The taste is well balanced with the right amount of bitter and a hint of sweetness. The palate shines through with a full body and creamy rich texture and a nice bitter finish that could be a bit stronger. This is a fantastic beer at a fantastic price. I will buy more sixers of this for sure.
