Commercial Description:
Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

1/2 a shared 12oz. Pours a murky dark brown with abundant haze. Nose is sweet, dark malt with some slight bourbon notes, and some faint dark, dried fruits. Taste is smooth and creamy, dark malts, undertones of bourbon/scotch, and the taste of dry, dark fruits (fig, plum, etc) comes through slightly in the background. Alcohol is not overpowering, and finish is rewarding. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a nice complex palate going on. WoW! This one is a Winner!

Malty caramel and toffee in the aroma. Extremely small off white head that is fully diminishing. Murky dark amber/brown color. Sweet initial flavor ending in a moderately bitter back end. Dry texture with an extremely flat carbonation. Was expecting a little more.

12oz bottle. Pours a mahogany brown body with a reddish tint to it. Finger-width, brownish beige, creamy head that dissipates slowly and leaves a good amount of sticky lacing. Aroma has barley wine style sweet fruity toffees with a nice earthy hop blend. Some deeper caramels, berries, prunes, citrus, a touch of roast, a just a hint of sweet scotchy booze. Flavor is sweet, malty caramels and more fruity toffees. Citrusy, berry, and pruney earthy bitterness goes nicely with the malts. A touch of smokey roast towards the finish as well as a sweet booze keeping this similar to a barley wine. Finishes semi-dry with a moderate duration of everything. Full bodied with a really nice, rounded sweetness and balancing hops/roasty smoke. Overall, a very tasty beer. I like the barley wine qualities a lot in this one. Solid stuff.

Pours copperry red with little to no head. Smells light citrus. Stunning complex flavor, hops are blended well and not overpowering. First scotch ale for me and will not be the last!

(bottle) Dark chestnut brown ale with disappearing tan head. Aroma of crystallized malt sugars, strong ripe berries. Flavor is sweet, roasted malt, caramel, nuts; earthy, fruity but not so much as the aroma. Medium to full bodied, sticky.

Clear mahogany pour with a small beige cap. Aroma of toffee, maple syrup, earthy hops and a hint of roast. Taste mirrors aroma but with an added smoky note and some nuttiness. One of my favorite American brewed Scotch ales.

A ruby red pour. Aroma of caramel malt and fresh bread with a hint of deep fruit. Flavor is similar: bready and caramel malt but with some toffee character. Finish is very alcoholic. Very tasty.
