Commercial Description:
Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

Bottle courtesy of ericandersnavy. Clear ruby pour. Aged aroma notes with a strong amount of alcohol. Caramel elements as well. Pretty solid taste. Bready and sweet that tingles over the tongue. Leaves a dryness that does not disappoint.

Soon as I started pouring this I knew I was in for a treat. Poured out really thick and really hazy, and brown tinged orange with a thick tan head. Fastly faded though. A bit sour in the nose, very fruity and malty. Palate is smoky, and a bit gritty from the hops. Lots of toffee, caramel, that sort of thing. Lots going on in the nose and the palate. This one will take some more tastings to really appreciate. Thanks for the trade Zach! And so glad now that you threw in a few extras!

BOTTLE: dark red/brown pour, aroma of smoke, maybe some caramel. Taste is terrific - lots of sweet caramel, just a touch of hop.

This and the Moylan’s Kilt Lifter I find to be highly comparable, with this being slightly superior. Similarities: big malty sweetness, brown ale characteristics, smokiness. Differences: Dirty bastard just has more of all of the above.

Bottle. Poured a muddy brown with a reddish tinge and a creamy head. The aroma is pretty restrained, and I struggle to extract much of one at all. The drink has more to it ... predominately bitter toffee and wood bark, with a bitter bite. Creamy mouthfeel but a relatively thin body. (#3607, 14 July 2009)

Pours a dark, reddish amber with a thin, creamy, off-white head. Aroma is caramel malts and hints of smoke and scotch. Flavor also contains a lot of roasted caramel malts with hints of toffee, smoke, wood, nuts, scotch, and some light, bitter hops. Body is medium-heavy with some carbonation. A pleasure to drink.

Pours a cloudy dark red/brown with minimal head. Almost looks like a iced sun tea but just a tad darker. Swirling it creates a thin off-white creamy head that doesn’t stick around. Nose is sweet with a nice fruitiness and a fleeting hint of vanilla? Initial sweet flavor that becomes slightly bitter and tea-like in the finish.. Good medium-thick mouth feel. Malty and fruity. Complex, with slightly different flavors with every sip, especially as it warms a bit. Overall very good. The first Scottish Ale I really enjoyed.

Poured a heavy dark brown color with a light toffee aroma. A small smoke taste starts this bad boy off,but it disappears quickly behind the huge caramel finish. I feel like a licked caramel off a spoon. Another bold one by Founders.
