Commercial Description:
Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

Another good one from Founders. Has a deep reddish brown color with a little bit of a yellow head. Smells is a little bit complex. Has malts, caramel, hops, and grain. Has very little carbonation. Tastes has a lot of hops and very smooth malts. Simply a great experience.

Bottle. Good stuff herr folkds! Red/brown pour. Aroma is really nice. Toffee, dried fruits, some roasted nuts and maybe some brown sugar. Flavor is full and smooth. Malty, a bit sweet, caramel, toffee and fruit. Very good.

Pours a dark reddish-brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is sweet malts, toffee. Taste is toffee, caramel, earthy malts and a little smokiness. Seems like something is missing, however.

From a 12 oz bottle obtained in a trade from Eric in Indiana, the poured a hazy dark red with a nice tan head and moderate lacing. Nose of caramel malts, molasses, and some coffee notes. Very rich mouthfeel. Flavor is kind of classic for its style with lots malt tastes, and a dry finish. An excellent scotch ale.

A pretty, ruddy red in the glass with a good amount of lacing. Aromas of toffee, caramel, and a sticky, clinging palate to match those sticky aromas and flavors. The best thing here is the underlying earthy notes on the tongue. Plenty of grit to go along with the burnt sugar of toffee and caramel. Made somewhat hot by the high alcohol.

12 oz. bottle in a thistle glass. Ar: Unremarkable Scotch, whiskey, some grapefruit, liquorish. Ap: Amber, ruby color. Wasn’t poured well, so can’t judge the head. Fl: Malty, caramel, burnt sugar, whiskey, liquorish. Pa: Finished well-balanced, full body. I suppose its true to style, but one of my least favorite styles anyway.

Sampled at Rustico. Pours a ruby color with a small off-white head. Aroma is caramels, malts, touch of nuts. Flavor is caramel, sweet, smooth, malty, scotch. Extremely easy to drink and the alcohol is extremely well hidden. Me likes!

This is one of my favorites. A sensational scotch ale with a hint of peat that is not overwhelming to the overall malt character.
