COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer ďainít fer the wee ladsĒ

Finally in NJ. Bottle. Pours a dark, red that looks like a cedar water in a creek. Can definitely get a whiff of alcohol by the smell. Surprisingly smooth drinking (but felt heavy), with some very sweet notes. Finish can get a bit edgy for my tastes.

!2 oz bottle

Coupled with the main course was this release. After a few starters it was hard to get through this one. Despite taking it easy a beer this heavy can sink in the stomach. I would love to try it again on its own and on a fairly empty stomach to fully appreciate it. This is a solid beer instead of just one with a earcatching name.

Aroma / Appearance - The deep ruby red body swirled around the glass leaving a slight layer of film along the sides. Black cherries, peat, wet earth and dark malts formed a thick grouping that almost choked the senses. While not the richest beer I could have spent plenty of time admiring it.

Flavor / Palate - A slight bitterness washes along with warmth and chocolately tones. Peat and earth come next. The dry finish leaves one refreshed and full. A little heavy for a warm day this might be nice on a cool fall evening.

Draught at Circa 6/6/08. I donít see this beer as red or ruby at all, I held it up to the light and got a pure brown for sure. A beautiful brown, but not the scarlet red of a porter in front of a light bulb. Definitely can taste the heat of the alcohol, some smoke and peat, would make a perfect chaser for a big snifter of Lagavulin 16.

UPDATED: JUN 6, 2008 12oz bottle. Weak tan head that dicipated rather quickly. Deep ruby amber red when held up to the light, though more like motor oil sitting in my glass. Almost as thick as oil too. Malty and earthy aroma, as is the taste. Very rich and thick feel, with high toasted and roasted flavors with caramel sweetening the hops. Iím not a big fan of scotish ales, too thick and gooey for me.

A heavy dark chocolate colored beer, with a light brown head.very rich and a creamy mouthfeel. This beer had a whiskey taste in the finish. Lots of sweet malted flavors.

12oz bottle. Pours deep brown with a ruby hue. Some light lacing came with the small beige head. The nose reminded me of a lighter version of Angelís Share (not sure why). Lots of chocolate and toasted malt on the palate, creamy finish.

UPDATED: APR 28, 2009 12 ounce bottle. I have had this one before but was really excited to try it again. Pours a beautiful deep mahogany color with a small off-white color head. The aroma consists of a LOT of caramel malts with hints of dried fruits, and hops. The taste was a wonderful mix of caramel, dried fruits, and mild hops with a slight lingering of alcohol. It was medium bodied and stuck to my mouth making me want more. Finished very smooth with a good lingering taste. I really enjoyed this beer! I wish I could have this one on a daily basis...

Dark red and brown color - short creamy head - mild aroma - slightly smokey and coffee flavor. Smooth finish for a Scottish Ale. I gave it extra points for the alcohol content because it is hard to believe that it is 8.3 ABV for such a smooth Ale.

Deep red pur with thinnish off white head. Looks a bit like unfiltered cranberry juice, which is kinda unique. Nose is a little faint, but definately had some nice malt characteristics along with a touch of smoke. Flavor is nice caramel sweetness, though not overpowering, along with a mild fruit and smoke combo. Hops add enough bitterness to be balancing but not dominating. Very nice beer.

Pours coke caramel with a smallish white head. Aroma of toffee, coffee, and whisky. Flavor a woody mix of sweet and whisky alcohol. Fairly warming on the finish. A nice beer, but Iím not blown away. Doesnít hold up with Old Chub or Wee Heavy.
