Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer ďainít fer the wee ladsĒ

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of caramel malts, floral hops, and some cherries and strawberries. Poured ruby in color with a medium tan head that diminished. Clear. Tastes of malts, alcohol, toffee, and chocolate. Tastes like chocolate milk with alcohol in it. Medium body. Soft carbonation. Slightly dry, malty, sweet finish.

bottle pours a hazy brown with a frothy head. Glass laces nicely as I drink. Aroma is of sweet malt with some spice. The flavor is sweet and rich with hints of caramel. It finishes with some spicy bitterness and a bit of bite from the alcohol. Outstanding!

Nice brown color with a sm-med head. Aroma is filled with thick malts, peat, and a small amount of hop aroma. Flavor was sweet with some dark fruits, dark bread. and smoky/peat tastes. Enough hops in there to keep things interesting. Iíve been drinking alot of Old Chub lately and this is just a tad better.

Chicago trip. Monday 17:30+. On tap at The Map Room. Black with ruby highlights. Peaty malt aroma. Rich thick black malt peat taste. Rich malty sugary and funky.

12 oz bottle. Poured a clear reddish/brown with a small off white head. Aroma of earth, hay, cobwebs, smoke, peat and slight chocolate. Flavor of smoke, peat, chocolate and a slight alcohol warming at the very back of my throat. Creamy full mouthfeel with just enought carbonation. Really good beer.

Roasted malt aroma. The beer is too thin and lacks fruit, alcohol, or vinous qualities. Not really bad, but it is just too thin and light for the style.

From a 12-oz bottle, shared by brewfiend, this pours a clear dark bown brew with a fast dissolving off white head. Aroma is earthy with hints of molasses, pitted fruit, peat and soy sauce. Taste is heavy roasted malt, medium body and more soy sauce. Finish is smooth, sweet and no bitterness. Lacking the alcohol sting at the end but very enjoyable.

Rated 9/23/06: Killer Scotch Ale, plenty of bite coupled with a great smoothness. Heavy malt aroma, bitter-sweet. Solid pour, good head and lacing but too many floaties detract from the overall visuals. Smooth on the palate with a calm alcohol burn, just how I like it. Impressive flavor with lots of sweet malts, molasses & brown sugar mixed with a slight bitterness. Powerful and inviting, oh my this is a nice cool weather brew.

12oz bottle, $1.79. Aroma is of heavy caramel malt with some prune and alcohol. Small off-white head left virtually no lace and mostly diminished. Body is a murky dark reddish brown with and average amount of varied particles. Flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter with a moderate finish. Some alcohol on the finish as well. Full bodied, oily, flat palate with a mild alcohol burn. Bottle was shaken during shipping so the particles are probably not common. As thick as a good Imp stout but without the complexity. Good but not one Iíll buy again.

UPDATED: FEB 14, 2008 Pours dark red. medium thickness. Has a great malt and caramal aroma. Its very smooth and transitional beer leaving you with a great aftertaste. Alcohol is noticeable. Overall it was something I will buy again. Re rate it is amazing how your taste changes. I remember this beer to be pretty powerful when i began to taste and rate beers and now I find it to be not as bold, but still one of my fav.
