COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

12 oz bottle. Poured fairly clear dark amber in color with a very nice brown head that left no lacing on the glass. Aroma of white bread toast, lightly sweet malt. Tastes of light toffee, chocolate, dark fruits. Alcohol seemed to be hidden quite well. Not bad.

12oz bottle. Pours a deep brown with gorgeous, ruby-red highlights and a thin, brown head that leaves persistent swirls over the beer and light lacing on the glass. The aroma is bready, toasty, and biscuity with subtle toffee and cocoa, fruity and earthy hops, and dark fruit. The flavor starts big and malty with a delectable malt sweetness that is laden with caramel, toffee, and biscuits. There is a slight dryness and roastiness - subtle coffee and roasted barley. The roasted grain flavors take on a slightly ashy note at mid-palate, and hops and esters enter to form a very nice, complex fruitiness. The bitterness is wonderfully balancing - a little hoppy in the end with a big, sweet, slightly roasty, toasty malt finish. The mouthfeel starts crisp with carbonation and thick. As the CO2 is released (from swirling in the mouth), the texture thickens into a rich and luxurious silk - full-bodied but not syrupy. Overall - a marvelous beer - well-balanced and drinkable. Perfect for cool weather but not so rich, strong, or sweet as to be a "nip bottle only" kind of beer. I don’t think it fits the label of Scotch Ale perfectly - a bit hoppier than one might expect. But it is really, really nice.

I was expecting something a little bolder from a beer named Dirty Bastard. Moderately sweet upfront, with a dry, lingering finish, and a hint of warmth and smokiness closing the show. Not as complex as I was hoping for. Less sweet than the Duck Rabbit Scotch Ale, but not as rich. Good but not upper echelon.

12 oz bottle - Pours a hazy deep amber/red color with tiny, almost non-existant light tan head. Aroma has red grapes, lightly toasted caramel, light chocolate, oak. Flavor is full of chewy malts, caramel, hint of cherry, with a mildly sweet finish. Overall a decent wee heavy style brew.

Bottled, at least a year of age. Sweet malty nose. Flavor of sweet caramel malt, dark fruits, raisin, a bit of smoke..mellow. Reminds me of a sweeter version of an older bigfoot. First 6 oz were better than the last...

Sweet boozy aroma. Deep amber-red with about a centimeter of tan head with moderate lacing. Boozy sweet malty flavor with a slightly bitter bourbon feeling. Feels nice in the mouth, not thin, not thick.

Pours deep opaque brown with red on the edge. No head to speak of. Aroma of dark caramel and bourbon. A little frothy, full feel. Bitter heavy malt, warming alcohol. Trace of piny hops, and acidic grapefruit. Bitter finish. It’s definitely good, but not totally remarkable in the scheme of things.
