COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

A rich raisiny aroma with sweet malt kicker. An almost mahogony pour with almost no head and a nice gooey lacing. A rich malty fruity flavor with a nice bitter finish that is not a harshness that makes the beer unpleasant. It is almost an espresso bitter. A full palate but just a tad over carbonated for me. A very complex flavor and palate make this an interestingly good beer.

Surprise. This was a great beer! The downfall of this beer was that there wasn’t another one only a Beer Lao.... damn.. Dark cloudy brown. Large tan head. Malty aroma. Very malty flavour. With light bitters. Hints of chocolate and light roastedness. Palate was clean with light carbonaton.

Reddish brown with a big firm tan head. Deep roasted, nutty malt aroma. Flavor is another huge load of malt, Bittersweet chocolate, nutty, with a roasted bitterness in the middle. Dry, earthy hops bite at the finish wraps it up really nicely. Nice medium body with good carbonation. Fantastic.

Pours a reddish brown color topped by a large sudsy head of tan foam. Some lacing with great head retention. Sweet malty aroma with a hint of peat. Very malty brew - lots of sweet chocolate malt and a little tofffee. A bit drier in the end, but not a whole lot. Hopped for balance, not for flavor. Medium to full body, light but adequate carbonation.

UPDATED: JAN 11, 2007 I was a little disappointed by this Scotch Ale. I am generally an advocate of this style. It is unfortunate that they are few in variety for the most part, as not many Scotch Ales are distributed in Rhode Island. However, this beer all caramel malt, with a sheer whiskey mouthfeel. The bourbon taste is all well and good, but there is a very weak hop balance that makes this brew one dimensional...Old Chubb is much better.

Bottle. Pours a copper brown with ruby notes; white-tan head is creamy and signifcantly lasting considering the ABV. Aroma is dominated by maltiness, with some sweetness evident. Smokiness is there along with some roast. Flavor is more of the same....sweet, heavy malt, some smoke, hops balance, with a touch of lingering bitterness. Really good balance. Medium-full body, hints of alcohol warmth. Overall, not one of my favorite styles, but this is really a solid beer....highly recommend for scottish beer fans.

12 oz bottle. Poured a shiny ruby to amber color with thin tan head. Aroma is a bit weak with sweet sweet malt and a slight roastiness. The flavor starts off with some hop bitterness and slight roasted maltiness. Then deeper roasted malt sweetness, sort of molasses, and a bit of dark fruit come out of hiding. Tough to pin down the flavor any more than that. Maybe there is a touch of brown sugar in there too. I also get a slight sense of the ABV. This beer really begins to shine when it is the third or fourth beer being consumed. The malts, hops and slight Barleywine taste really hits the spot.

12 oz bottle courtesy of wheninhell. Mahogany with a thin light brown head. Toasty, roasty malt nose, some molasses. Sweet malty flavor, peaty, very mild on the alcohol. Nice scotch ale!
