COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

Bottle at Chris_O’s, thanks to Harry. Deep amber with an off white head. Sweet malts, hops and alcohol in the nose. Hops, roasted malts and whiskey in the flavour. Not bad.

UPDATED: OCT 27, 2007 Draft: Had this at the Sippin’ By the River fest in Philly. Pour is a redish brown with a malty aroma with a hint of some chocolate, taste is malty, roasted and dry. A very good brew.

Overall a good ale. Dark brown pour. Smoky aroma. I don’t detect much of the hops in the aroma but they do come through in the taste. Smoky malt taste with a mild hop bitter finish.

A Mes rate: Bottle at Chris_O’s HogTownHarry minifest. Thanks to Harry. Very dark thick amber colour with a thin tan film. Resinous hoppy aroma with some sweet malt and slight alcohol. Burnt and roasty notes too. Flavour is more of the same but much better and really nicely balanced. Tasty.

Bottle from HogTownHarry drunk at Chris_o’s HogTownHarry meet up. Hazy deep chestnut with lasting tan head. Soy sauce all over it. Bit too thick, tastes like thick black bean sauce. It’s ok, but oddly a tad bland. Too soy saucey.

Poured from the bottle. Produced a cloudy, nut brown body (with slight redness) with a medium tan head. Sweet smoky aroma with hints of chocolate. First taste produced no sensation, quickly followed by strong bitter melding into sweetness (quite complex). This was smooth drinking ale with a strong flavor. Medium to heavy bodied and coated the tongue with a smoky sweetness. I liked this Scotch Ale very much and will purchase again.

12oz bottle my friend Liz picked up on the road. Drank from a dogfish snifter. Pours dark brown with a ruby tinge. The head is about pinky width and pretty nicely colored, a pale cream. The nose is sweet, robust and pretty damn enticing. Tasty, sweet, rich, malty, but a tiny bit thin. Founders has yet to let me down, and this is pretty solid, could be better of course, but pretty damn tasty.

pours a brown ruby color with a one finger bubbly off white head that quickly disappeared. aroma is roasted caramel malt with a touch of hops. has a medium body, descent lacing and ok carbonation. flavor is the same as aroma with a hint of alcohol. not bad of a scotch ale i guess. is a little sticky on the lips and a little syrupy.
