12 oz. bottle wcampbell (572), Central, South Carolina, USA Mar 8, 2009 Not to sweet and surprisingly drinkable for the style. Lightly sweet caramel malt flavor. Some plum and raisin flavors as well. Light smokiness. Long finish with some notes of alcohol. Very light carbonation and almost no head. HighlanderOne (538), Somewherein, New Jersey, USA Mar 7, 2009 Poured from bottle. Aroma is malt and swamp gas at first, but gassiness goes away quick. Cloudy mahogany, uneven head. Kinda ugly, actually. Roasted malt, brown sugar, molasses, vegetable. Earthy and sweet. Finished ok, but a bit sticky. I wasnt crazy about this stuff. CheersMate1 (770), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Mar 6, 2009 VERY sweet malt aroma. Has a slight red hue. Dark brown in color with very little head. Subtle alcohol aroma. Nice malty complex aroma. Wish it had more of a smoke aroma, but still nice. Nice smoke malt taste. This beer has a straightforward malt and smoke taste. A lot of sweet flavors. Nice smooth palate. A very good scotch ale. Not a huge fan of scotch ales, but this is nice. Purchased at Bruisin Ales in North Carolina. nefarious (202), Clarkston, Michigan, USA Feb 24, 2009 wonderfully thick pour with a slight tan head. Deep brown color....just like the meanest scotch you have ever saw. unbeliveable sweet aroma. Caramel, vanilla, sweet fruits and maybe a ever so subtle hint of cinniamon....yeah I might be crazy. The flavor is very different fom the aroma. Very grainy....huge malts. Slightly smokey and a clean finish!!!! very good and easy drinking. RCL (1444), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA Feb 23, 2009 Dark mahogany pour. Light peaty, heavily malty aroma. Dark roasted nuts in the flavor with a peaty smokiness on the finish and aftertaste. Nice. Jsawyer (282), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 23, 2009 Bottle, poured deep garnet with ruby edges with a creamy tan head. Aroma was strong sweet roasted barley, chocolatey caramel, and dark fruits. Flavor was oaky sweet roast barley, scotchy bite, chocolate, caramel, and licorice blending into bitter hops. I love to session with this. mikalooch (158), , New Jersey, USA Feb 19, 2009 Bottle. Pours deep dark marroon with small off white head. Aroma is burnt wood, malt and a touch of hoppiness. Flavor is bitter at first with smoke, malt, and dried red fruit, finishes bittersweet with honey, barbeque, and a touch of hops. Medium mouthfeel with medium carbonation, alcohol may be a little to present. I like this though, one of the better scotch ales I have had.
