Commercial Description:
Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

Pours ruby brown, with a creamy tan head. Malt heavy aroma, sweet toffee with some hops and alcohol in the background. Good complex flavor, toffee, molasses, dates, smoky peat and some hoppiness on the finish. Nice chewy and sticky palate. Overall a tasty beer.

Hazy red-mahogany with a small beige head. Earthy, woody, alcoholic nose, some peat and caramel malt. Some peat and alcohol in the flavor, also a little dry bitterness. Bitter finish. Good stuff, not very complex but rather coherent.

Great old ale aroma and flavor. Perfect amount of bitter hop aftertaste. I never think to pick up scotch ales, but when I do I like them. I need to chase down some of the more highly rated ones.

Sampled on draft at Smokin Joes in Pittsburgh PA this beer poured a dark brown color with red highlights and a small khaki head. The aroma was tangy, fruity and malty. The flavor was full of bitter and fruity hops with light undercurrents of roasty molasses, caramel and chocolate. The finish was long with fruity, malty and molasses notes. Very nice.

12 oz bottle from daknole. Pours a murky brown with a medium off-white head that slowly dissipates to a film and has some lacing. The aroma is mild with toffee, sawdust, roasted barley and dough. The flavor was a bit like that of a slightly hoppy barley-wine with some smoked peat and a bit of alcohol. The mouthfeel is full and malty. The finish is long with a bit of lingering alcohol. Overall: A very tasty brew, thanks dakine.

Bottle served to a Czech pils glass. A walnut color pour with ruby tones. The head was a "quickly diminishing to a small ring" tan tone with light lacing. The aroma was malty caramel, a little earthiness, with a touch of vanilla. The flavor had a roasty/nuttiness, with dark molasses and caramel taste. A good alcohol presence and a pleasant bitterness was evident in the finish. A benchmark Scotch for me.
