Commercial Description:
Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

Has a bitter aftertaste that of a stout. The color is very dark brown but not quite as dark as a dark stout. Claims to be scotch style ale but again the aroma is very stout like; which is not a bad thing. The head is very creamy in color but dissipates fast. While not one of the best beers I have had, it is still quite good.

Pours a murky scab brown with a tall, creamy peachy tan head that has great retention. Aroma is sweet grain, earthy hops, fresh cut wood, roast, slightly nutty. Flavor is peat smoke up front, lots of roast, maple, char, a touch of soghum, earthy and herbal hops, finishes char and bitter hops. A real Dirty Bastard of a brew.

Deep copper color with a thin white head. Sweet hoppy aroma, nice. In the mouth the taste was refreshing and smooth, hoppy and dry. This flavor continued into the throat, but didn’t leave a bitter aftertaste. n truth my original rating (written on the back of an envelope) finished here with a quick statement about this being a decent beer, but lacking something to make it memorable. However, ten minutes after I finished the first bottle I realized a warm sensation in my stomach and a fuzzy glowing feeling like I had just taken a stiff snifter of cognac. It was wonderful and calming. I sat for 30 minutes in this comfortably numb state of euphoria, leaving it and heading straight to bed, where I slept like a Cheshire cat. This is definitely an interesting and wonderful concoction from the folks at Founders. Drink with caution and enjoy the mellowing effects. Cheers.

Pours a dark hazy ruby with a thin tan/white head that leaves nice lacing... Aroma of sweet malts with slight notes of peat or smoke... Taste of roasted/smokey malts with nice complexity of fruits and a hint of drying hops... Finish is medium to full bodied with a lingering smokiness that builds throughout the sip til the finish... Excellent beer.

12 oz. bottle. Pours slightly hazy copper with a small light tan head that dissipates rather quickly. Nice malty aroma; sweet and figgy with some peaty notes when it warms. Complex malty flavor profile, with lots of dark fruit along with some peat/light smoke. Finishes somewhat dry, providing nice balance. Medium-full mouthfeel, with moderately high carbonation, and some assertive but not hot warming. Good strong scotch ale - a sipper in strength, but quite drinkable.

Bottle. Spicy caramel malt aroma. Cloudy reddish amber body, small light tan head. Flavor is very assertively malty, with a definite alcohol kick, and a somewhat bitter finish. Not a glass one can easily ignore; does not fail to make an impression.

Reddish-amber body with a clinging tan head. Aroma of sweet malt, brown sugar, and just a hint of smoke. Formadible, silky palate. Very nice flavor consisting of malty sweet goodness up front with brown sugar and butterscotch notes. Some nice dark fruit flavor mixes in right before the smoke and whiskey warming. Quite nice finish...a delicious and easy to drink beer.

pours a deep caramel to ruby color with a creamy light tan head. aroma is slightly sweet with hints of vanilla and smoke. mouthfeel is slightly heavy and silky. flavor is very complex with a touch of fruit (maybe fig?) and some scotch and smoke ending in a lingering dry finish that leaves smoke and oak flavors behind. excellent beer!
