Commercial Description:
Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

Pours deep opaque brown with red on the edge. No head to speak of. Aroma of dark caramel and bourbon. A little frothy, full feel. Bitter heavy malt, warming alcohol. Trace of piny hops, and acidic grapefruit. Bitter finish. It’s definitely good, but not totally remarkable in the scheme of things. nice mahogany pour...thin head. Kind of a woodsy earthy aroma. theres something in the flavor I cant quite pin down. faint licorice flavor. smooth and warming. The first time I had this I poured half the bottle out. But as someone else has pointed out, your tastes change to amazing degrees. another fine beer from Founders.

A dark reddish brown ale with a thin creamy reddish moka head. In aroma, a woody vinous aroma, licorice, lactic acids and butterscotch, rich and pleasant. In mouth, a sweet caramel, licorice, raisins, alcohol warmth. This bastard is classy, rich and complex. Early 2007.

Cloudy copper/amber color with a medium tan head. Sweet malty aroma, a nice rich and roasted taste with a hint of caramel and a trace of chocolate in the finish. A nice representation of the style.

[Bottle] shared by lawstudent09. Pours amber/copper with a smallish tan head. Aroma is malty and raisiny, and the flavor matches.

A decent brew...Pour is a cloudy, hazy, brown red that has almost no head. Aroma is faint in fruits and citrus hops. Pretty pleasant. Flavor is malty, caramel and lightly hopped. Palate is kinda sweet but smooth and a bitter finish. Not bad but nothing great.

Now that I think about it, this was probably the first craft beer I ever had. I remember one of my bandmembers brought this stuff home, just based on it’s name, and we all hated it. Now after a year of trying new beers, and being turned on to craft brews, I decided to buy another six pack. Well it’s amazing how much change can happen to your palate in a year. This stuff is epic. It pours a very dark reddish brown, and has a small beige head. It’s aroma is strong, with hints of caramel, and apricot. The flavor is deep as well with hints of raisin and licorice. Very good brew from a very good brewer. Cheers!
