3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle thanks to Klimaet. Pours a dark ruby with a small, off white head. Aroma has lots of caramel, raisins, figs, malts, slight alcohol, pretty sweet. Taste is sweet and caramel malty with a slightly toasted bitterness. Again some raisin-like fruityness. Average carbonation and slightly oily body.

Bottle. Dark brown with a small head. Powerful sweet flavour with lots of body.Lacks complexity but a straightforward strong ale that doesn’t mess around. Not a nice name though.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Brunt utseende med høyt fint skum. Meget tiltalende aroma av karamell, sukker, malt og tørket frukt. I smaken finner jeg karamell, sukker, cola(?!) og tørket frukt. Utrolig fløyelsmyk i munnen. Jeg kjørte min på 12,2 grader celsius, noe som fungerte fint. Søt som fy, med en ekstremt vag surhet også. Tykk kropp. Minner mye om en Belgian Ale eller til og med en quadrupel.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Ridgewood. Aroma: Caramel, dried fruit such as prunes, delicious. Appearance: Orange with a small white-ish head. Flavor: Same, with some licorice in the back which I wasn’t a super big fan of (sue me, I don’t like licorice.) Semi-easy to drink, there is a bit a balance but it is a bit sweet. It tastes sweeter than you’d expect for the APV. Nice.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
It’s not been a great night for beer tasting. I wanted to cross off "English Pale Ale" from my list of styles, so chose a pale ale from England which was labelled as an English Pale Ale, but was actually categorised as an ESB. I’ve had a Cornish bitter which was pretty dreadful. Was hoping this was a "Scottish Ale" but again missed the nuance and it is a "Scotch Ale." So much for being a completist! However ... this is great. Lovely rich brown colour, rich and full bodied. Complex - there is dried fruit, brown bread, plum, dark treacle. The alcohol isn’t hidden but it doesn’t dominate in a harsh way. Big beer. The night is getting better. And we won the cricket!
