3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 kidmartinek (2452) - austin, Texas, USA - APR 8, 2013
Deep plum in color. Head leaves dirty rings of lace around the glass. The aroma is like fruit wood pulp. The taste is pretty much all coffee in some form or fashion with various undertones of exsquisite flavors that are surely complex. This finish has some kind of bite like a big pot of salsa made with a single serrano pepper. Scotch ale? Wet, fruity coffee porter IMHO. OMG I used an FLA!

Get it at founders in GR from the tap. In the bottle it's one of my favorites but right from the source it was amazing...more character, deeper flavors, etc. darn good beer

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Prufrockstar (200) - Seattle, Washington, USA - APR 3, 2013
Bottle muled to me by little brother -- thanks! Sweet, malty aroma of plums, caramel, wood (or whatever that special scent is that I normally associate with whisky barrel-aged beers). Dark cola brown appearance, minimal head that dissipates immediately, no lacing. Taste: sweet caramel, smokiness. Surprisingly well-integrated hop bitterness bite at the end. A little warming alcohol in the finish. Medium body, moderate/lively carbonation, slick texture. Overall: Exceptional.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jbruner (1123) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - APR 3, 2013
Bottle date stamped on 8/3/2012. Pours a deep mahogany color with fluffy off-white head that dissipates to thin ring of lace that sticks nicely. Aroma of caramel, toffee, roasted woods, and a hint of smoke Taste is well balanced toffee, caramel, wood, and slight whiskey booze. Clean finish, no real after taste to speak of or lasting notes. Pretty damn good.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 trumpetskid (95) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 28, 2013
Appearance is dark ruby, with a very slight off white head. Aroma of dark fruit and caramel. Strong caramel in the nose. The taste is a little compared to the aroma. Mainly caramel. This is very smooth.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 AZBennett (81) - Chandler, Arizona, USA - MAR 24, 2013
Pours a very dark amber nearly brown with a half inch of white head that quickly recedes. Aromas are very thin with bread and molasses/caramel tones. The taste explodes with sweet, smoky caramel flavors, followed by roasted malts and then some very nice peat and ash flavors. The mouthfeel is coating but not too heavy, and perhaps the most balanced part of the beer. Overall a truly solid performer and to be honest I like this more than Alesmith Wee Heavy, which was my favorite of this style. If I could get this in AZ it would be in my fridge at all times.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Miked1687 (215) - Buffalo, New York, USA - MAR 23, 2013
Poured from a bottle into a wide tulip. Smells sweet with caramel candy, hops sneaking through. Extremely smooth mouth feel. Pretty thick and coating, in fact. Flavor is dominated by that sweet caramel and not surprisingly, gentle scotch. This is a nice sipper that has a complex malt profile that makes you question if it could have been aged in barrels. Definitely need to compare this to backwoods bastard if you have the opportunity.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 MrHangover (1099) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - MAR 21, 2013
Bottle, thnx to Stakem. Cheers! Pours a very murky brown beer with a very small, beige head on top. Aroma is incredibly malted with tones of molasses and dark caramel. Flavour is quite sweet, light on the alcoholic burn. Medium cloying mouthfeel, some residual sugars are present in the flavour, making it a very sweet, malted brew. Very enjoyable, it would be interesting to see this with some age on it.
4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 beermomz (20) - USA - MAR 21, 2013
Poured a dark amber color from bottle. Not much in aroma, faint smell of bread and spruce. But what it lacks in aroma, it makes up for in taste. Medium amount of sweetness with a perfect balance of hops to finish. A great beer.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Vells (257) - LATVIA - MAR 20, 2013
Bit hazy dark ruby with medium beige head. Lacing
Aroma.. nicely mild roasted caramel malts, dried fruits, decent hops, bit alcohol, bread. Very nice balanced
Bit sweet, not unpleasantly bit sticky.
Very nice beer indeed.
