Pours a clear reddish amber. Caramel malt, must grass, fruit, toffee, bread, and a bit of oak. Some bitter hops at the back. Nice beer well made, but Im not a big fan of the style.

Bottle.Dark brownish colour with small white head.Aroma is rosted and sweet malty,good powerfull mouthfeels and flavor of dried fruits,wood and caramel.

Nice color for scotch ale. It has a simple head and good carbonation. The aroma is the best attribute of the beer with the smell of Carmel, the smoked malts, and hops. This aroma creates the scotch smell. The finishing hops are excellent. It is very bitter, but well balanced. The overall beer try’s to have a creamy texture like a Belhaven’s Scottish ale but I think the beer is too bit thick. It is a great sipping beer. I would not recommend drinking it fast. Very nice alcohol level. If you hold some beer on your tongue and behind you bottom teeth while breathing in, you get a nice spicy tingle.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café, Wallingatan, Stockholm) Brown colour with brief, frothy, beige head. Malty nose with dark fruit, prunes, raisins, dark rye bread and caramel. Malty taste with notes of dark fruit, dark bread, raisins, wort, toasty caramel and spicy hops in a nicely balanced finish. Slightly more than medium body, smooth rounded mouthfeel. Lovely balance. Very nice beer.

clear amber/red, small white head. mild sweet malty red berries aroma. flavor is sweet malty, faint woody, sweet fruity, nice balance, swet barley wine type flavor.

Enjoyed from a 12oz bottle in a whiskey snifter. The beer pours a medium brown with just the slightest tan head that is gone within about 45 seconds. My sample is an unapologetic ode to all things malt. The aroma brings a malt aroma that, if one closes his eyes, leads him to think that he is in the boiling room of Briess. Almost doppelbock-like notes of Munich come through. Some middle crystal notes are also noticeable, giving a strong scent of caramel and toffee. The malt character found in the palate nearly penetrates to the soul. Rich toffee comes through first, almost as if they had bought a palate of hard-tack caramels, and then dumped them into the boil. Again, Crystal 60 thru 80 seems to evidence itself here. Interestingly (and slightly out of style), there is a moderate hop bitterness that runs through the mid-palate to the finish. While it is surprising, I think it is quite pleasant, and helps the beer from being cloying. The finish is a balance between sweet and bitter, and lasts forever. Overall, one of the best Scotch ales I’ve had.

12 oz bottle from Princeton’s. Dark brown pour with a tan head. Very nice lacing. Smokey, malty aroma. Smokey, hoppy flavor, the peat is noticeable too. Nice lingering finish.

Pours a dark brown color with just a little white head. Has a malty caramel smell to it. The taste is just about the same way it smells. Has a slight bitter finish to it
