Commercial Description:
Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass.(I must have misplaced my thistle?) This Scotch Ale poured a hazy, dark reddish brown color with visible carbonation when held up to light. Virtually no head or lace to speak of. The aroma of this beer was made up of sweet caramel malts, light yeast notes, and a bit of wood. The flavor is dominated by smokey malt richness. Some sweet caramel notes followed by a big roasted, smokey malt flavor. A touch of hop bitterness is present at the end. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied with light carbonation, leaving a lasting smokey taste on your tongue. Towards the bottom of the glass, it reminds me of drinking a Scotch and water. The flavor seems to become a bit muted by the smoke. I enjoyed the aroma and flavors that this beer presented, but the smokey finish seemed to detract from the overall experience. Made my mouth feel like I had sat next to a campfire for a few hours, directly in the line of the smoke eminating from the flame. A decent beer, but maybe just not my cup of tea. It was definately a Dirty Bastard!!!

Pours a Deep, Dark Red. Aromas of caramel and some roasted malts. Some fruits and roasted malts that fill the palate. Nicely Balanced. I love this beer.

Appearance: Pours out a clear, light mahogany color with a light beige head. No doubt, its one of the prettiest hues of the Beer Rainbow. Smell: Mild nutty aroma charged with a heaping helping of berries and other various dried fruits. Taste: Light toasted grains and caramel sweetness with just a slight bitterness that comes across as dull and unimaginative. I’m not picking up any smoke or peat flavors either - just those bizarre fruity undertones. Sour cherries, figs, and more berries. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a slick mouthfeel. Drinkability: Is it me, or is this the fruitiness non-fruit beer to date?

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of caramel malts, floral hops, and some cherries and strawberries. Poured ruby in color with a medium tan head that diminished. Clear. Tastes of malts, alcohol, toffee, and chocolate. Tastes like chocolate milk with alcohol in it. Medium body. Soft carbonation. Slightly dry, malty, sweet finish.

bottle pours a hazy brown with a frothy head. Glass laces nicely as I drink. Aroma is of sweet malt with some spice. The flavor is sweet and rich with hints of caramel. It finishes with some spicy bitterness and a bit of bite from the alcohol. Outstanding!

Nice brown color with a sm-med head. Aroma is filled with thick malts, peat, and a small amount of hop aroma. Flavor was sweet with some dark fruits, dark bread. and smoky/peat tastes. Enough hops in there to keep things interesting. I’ve been drinking alot of Old Chub lately and this is just a tad better.

Chicago trip. Monday 17:30+. On tap at The Map Room. Black with ruby highlights. Peaty malt aroma. Rich thick black malt peat taste. Rich malty sugary and funky.
