Rich, strong aroma. Poured a deep red-brown. Creamy small tan head that remained a very thin cap to the end., Left nice lacing. Rich, robust, slightly smoky flavor with very malty, chocolate. roasted malt and earthy taste. Very full body, thick texture, very soft carbonation with a very nice flavorful finish. This beer is one of the best ones I’ve ever enjoyed. Founders has done a great job with Dirty Bastard. I tried this in a tulip. I will definitely add this to my normal rotation of favorite beer. If you like beer dark, rich, thick and full of great flavor this is the beer for you! To me it is excellent!! Brewosk (137), Illinois, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 14, 2007 Bottle purchased at Corral Liquors in Granite City, IL. Pours a clear burgundy/brown with a creamy tan head that diminishes to a thin cap and laces nicely. Sweet caramel malts are strong on the nose, backed by notes of raisin, plum and a light alcohol. Full-bodied, creamy and soft, it finishes with a lightly burnt/bitter end. The flavor is a sweet, creamy roasted malt front with smoked/burnt notes and a clean, dry finish. A bitter aftertaste lingers at the back of the tongue. Quite nice, I can see why it’s referred to as "Founders flagship beer". dra19 (89), holland, Michigan, USA

It has a bit of a smoke aroma, a nice dark brown color and a dry finish. Overall I think it was a good find that I’ll be sure to try again in the future.
