Commercial Description:
Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

Roasted malt aroma. The beer is too thin and lacks fruit, alcohol, or vinous qualities. Not really bad, but it is just too thin and light for the style.

From a 12-oz bottle, shared by brewfiend, this pours a clear dark bown brew with a fast dissolving off white head. Aroma is earthy with hints of molasses, pitted fruit, peat and soy sauce. Taste is heavy roasted malt, medium body and more soy sauce. Finish is smooth, sweet and no bitterness. Lacking the alcohol sting at the end but very enjoyable.

Rated 9/23/06: Killer Scotch Ale, plenty of bite coupled with a great smoothness. Heavy malt aroma, bitter-sweet. Solid pour, good head and lacing but too many floaties detract from the overall visuals. Smooth on the palate with a calm alcohol burn, just how I like it. Impressive flavor with lots of sweet malts, molasses & brown sugar mixed with a slight bitterness. Powerful and inviting, oh my this is a nice cool weather brew.

12oz bottle, $1.79. Aroma is of heavy caramel malt with some prune and alcohol. Small off-white head left virtually no lace and mostly diminished. Body is a murky dark reddish brown with and average amount of varied particles. Flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter with a moderate finish. Some alcohol on the finish as well. Full bodied, oily, flat palate with a mild alcohol burn. Bottle was shaken during shipping so the particles are probably not common. As thick as a good Imp stout but without the complexity. Good but not one I’ll buy again.

Pours dark red. medium thickness. Has a great malt and caramal aroma. Its very smooth and transitional beer leaving you with a great aftertaste. Alcohol is noticeable. Overall it was something I will buy again. Re rate it is amazing how your taste changes. I remember this beer to be pretty powerful when i began to taste and rate beers and now I find it to be not as bold, but still one of my fav.

Picked this up at the coffee grounds in Eau Claire. Brown with sediment and faint head. Malt carob nose with noticeable alcohol. Dry chocolate and coffee taste.
