stiffy42j (67), Brunswick, Georgia, USA Feb 19, 2007 pours dark brown/red with small creamy head. smokey, earthy flavors and some dark fruits. very nice creamy feel...it’s a wee heavie and I like it IN MY BELLY! Crosling (1854), Loveland, Colorado, USA Feb 18, 2007 Extremely dark ruby color. Fairly nice malt nose. Really complex hints of peat and smoke on the palate, with additional notes of caramel, toffee and fruit as well. Very nice body. Nice flavor. A very nice beer. I would love to buy this beer in a 6’er. ford9719 (369), Vilseck, Germany Feb 17, 2007 Bottle. Thanks to BillVanE. Poured a dark black thin like water. Aroma of malt and jack danials. Taste is smooth and frothy has a coffe hint to it. demitriustown (689), Shelby Township, Michigan, USA Feb 13, 2007 Very Dark red almost black pour with a small tan head. Aroma is malts, caramel, and a grain aspect to it. Almost candy like in the aroma. Very smooth caramel malt taste, but the graininess is subdued in the taste but brings something subtle nuances into the mix. Palate is short, somewhat lively and carbonated, and light. Overall, Very nice Scotch ale better than most of the Wee Heavies. Cheers! Naven (864), Poway, California, USA Feb 11, 2007 Founders has been a mixed bag with me. I have had some good beers from them, and some pretty awful ones as well. This one is a winner. It pours a lovely dark brown color and smells like a delicious malty beverage. Palate is nice and full, and the flavor is awesome: Lots of smoke and roasted malts. The smoke is definitely there, but it’s far from over powering. I detect some brown sugar and fruits too -- maybe some raisin -- hard to tell. Excellent beer. b33r (363), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Feb 9, 2007 Dark brown/amber in color. Poured a big cream colored head, very frothy that slowly diminished and created a nice lacing. Very very sweet & sour aroma. Flavor was rich and malty to start with some roasty, smoky notes with shots of sweetness. Alcohol appeared as it warmed & pinched the back of the the throat just slightly. Excellent patrick767 (2016), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Feb 4, 2007 bottle - Pours dark ruby with a half inch head of thick foam that left some decent lacing. The aroma is all malt and dark fruit tones. Strong malt and fruit notes are balanced by a significant hops kick that comes through more in this full bodied brew’s finish. elektronikfagteknikerlærling (892), kbh, Denmark Feb 1, 2007 bottle. murky amber color. aroma is barky. taste of wood and barly winy. dark fruits. raisons. quite strong alcohollic. lots of power.
