COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

From a bottle at Zeebra II. Beautiful appearnce, with a deep red ruby colour on the body, very clear, a small off-white head on top, with good retention for its size and light lacing left on the glass. Aroma of dark fruits, with prunes and raisins, caramel, sweet malts, sugar. Taste also of dark fruits, strong prunes taste, raisins, toffee, moderate bitter, some caramel too. Medium thin body, good carbonation, nicely dry on the palate. Good one.

Clear dark ruby color with small off white head. Aroma of malts, yeast, toffee, dark fruits and faint smoke. Taste of malts, caramel, toffee, dark fruits and very faint peat. Full bodied, nice carbonation, a little cloying by the end of the bottle, good beer.

Lovely aroma, malty and biscuity with a hint of miso. Cloudy amber appearance with a lot of suspended sediment. Well rounded taste, same qualities as the aroma. Very nice palate, slightly bubbly, quite smooth. Overall very drinkable!

355 ml bottle! Dark copper color, hazy, with a slight off-white head. Aromas of caramel and general maltiness. taste was even better, especially when the beer got warmer. Caramel, some chocolate, bready notes, some dark fruits. Sweet aftertaste, sticky and long. Mdium to full body with low carbonation.

Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance - a nice rusty red color which formed a foaming head which lingered ~ 1 min after pouring. Smell - Not a very potent odor. Smells of alcohol a bit with a little bit of fruit possibly, but not very strong at all. Taste - An upfront bitterness that seems to persist. while not heavily present at first, begin to get the alcohol taste a bit later. Mouthfeel - A nice level of carbonation with an average body. Overall - Not a bad beer, but not what it is lived up for or costs. Would not buy on any regularity and would choose other Founders beers over this.

Bottle from Corks of Cotham. Lovely mahogany colour with a decent, beige head and touch of carbonation. Big toastiness, liquorice, blood orange, a hint of chocolate and some hops in the finish. Very good.

Founders Dirty Bastard has a medium, cream-colored head, a mostly clear, bubbly, deep copper appearance, and a lacing sheen left behind on the glass. The aroma is of some oak, sweetness, toffee, alcohol, and dark bread crust. Taste is of those elements, with low bitterness (even with 50 IBU) and a hint of citrus, oddly. Mouthfeel is medium and slick, to an extent, and Founders Dirty Bastard finishes wet and rich. RJT

A strong one, to be sure! Pretty ruby haze color, taste is caramel, bananas, smoke and booze. Solid Scotch Ale, not for those who are afraid to taste booze in the "heavies." Overall, a solid offering in a style that I am learning to appreciate slowly but surely.
