Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

An extremely rich brew that I had in bottle at Porterhouse in Dublin. Pours a dark muddy brown with a finger of dense beige head. The aroma is rich and malty with caramel and toffee notes in abundance. A bit sweet in the middle with light caramel apple flavours and hints of spice and earthy characters. The finish is heavy and rich with some boozy warmth as though aluding to its scotch namesake. Overall the best scotch ale Ive had.

Bottle pour. Bottled but 3 weeks ago in Grand Rapids, where this was opened. Pours a deep brown/caramel color with a small head. This is peat, malt and smoke. A beer that would go down a treat with a whiskey chaser. All the typical characteristics of a Scotch ale but ramped up to a bold finish.

On tap at Malarkey’s in Lake of the Ozarks. Aroma is quite restrained - perhaps it is too cold and we will see if it opens up a bit. Beautiful copper-mahogany with light tan head that webs down the glass and leaves a dusting across the top with a full collar. Taste is rich caramel with overt chocolate and slightly smoky on the backend.

Very nice dark amber, decent head and carmel flavor. Very drinkable and not a heavy hops taste.

I’m not a fan of Founders as of yet but this scotch ale is making me rethink that notion. Dark plum hue. Lacy head. Malty. It has a butterscotch sensibility buoyed by a full body. The wash down is smooth. I like the fluidity of the beer. The ABV is an 8ish but it seems deceptively more boozy. Frankly, a nice scotch ale. Pleasantly surprised.

Draft. Pours black with off white head that disappears fast. Nice toasty flavor. The alcohol taste comes through a little.

0.355 l bottle, this one was Marko’s I guess, so thanks for sharing! It poured clear amber-copper body with modest ivory head. Fine malty aroma, caramel, figs and honey mostly. Quite sweet flavor as well, caramel, some dried fruits and sugar. Showed only subtle hints of wood and maybe some herbal hops but I wasn’t sure anymore. Medium to full in body, with alcohol evident but nicely subdued so far. Nice long, sweet, thick finish, alcoholic as well (bitter bite). Not nearly complex as expected, also expected more from it, but a fine and effective ale anyway.

Bottle, 355ml. A dark rubi beer with a creamy head. It has a strong alcohol aroma with some dry fruits. The aroma is complex and there are a lot of things I can´t distinguish yet. Taste is bitter, especially at the end, very dense and maybe with a hint of chocolate. This beer is medium on carbonation and astringency. Overall a magnificent beer.
