Commercial Description:
Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

Bottle from Sprinkle. Dark maroonish/brown color upon pouring. Aroma is burnt and malty. Some raisins and a woody scotch character. Bitter malty flavorings. Pretty nice bitterness from the hops as well. A little bit of everything in there. Strong malts and hops. Alcohol is well hidden.

Pours a delightful cloudy, dark coppery brown with a small head that leaves excellent lacing. Aroma of cherries, caramel, and some tobacco. Taste fruity and dirty at the same time with some cherry, plum, caramel, tobacco, dirt and coffee flavors. Tastes as involved as it sounds. I like the way this beer finishes pretty light, but noticably dry, dirty and woody. It’s not meant to be a hopbomb, and the finish, while bitter, is not really a "hoppy" bitter. The mouthfeel has a way of feeling thick without being heavy at all. Wonderfully creamy and low carbonation. It has some sweetness with no cloying factor at all. I can’t think of anything else I’d want a scotch ale to do that this beer doesn’t already accomplish....

A very fruity, Carmel flavor and aroma. No surprises between smell and taste. Poured and dark brown with a tan head. Again the fruitiness stood out. When I bought this,, my beer gus said it was a very good example of Scotch ale. If you’re looking for something a little off the beaten path, give this a try.

12 oz bottle. Poured a lovely clear garnet color. Head was light tan with an orange tint. Aroma is of roasty malt, cocoa, and a hint of anise. Tastes even better than it smells. A mix of chocolate covered cherry, subtle peated malt, and alcohol flavors. Full bodied. Malty molasses comes out at the end along with a pleasant lingering bitterness. Well put together beer.

Thanks to decaturstevo for sharing this bottle with me! Poured brown in color with a yellowish tan head. Nice fruity aroma mixed with caramel malts and a hint of roast. Great fruity flavor (cherry stood out in particular) backed with some chocolate. Full body with a creamy texture. Hints of sweetness and fruity aftertaste. Thanks Stevo!

Solid in most aspects. Nice and malty, yet a nice and surprising dry finish. Yum yum.

A rich raisiny aroma with sweet malt kicker. An almost mahogony pour with almost no head and a nice gooey lacing. A rich malty fruity flavor with a nice bitter finish that is not a harshness that makes the beer unpleasant. It is almost an espresso bitter. A full palate but just a tad over carbonated for me. A very complex flavor and palate make this an interestingly good beer.
