Commercial Description:
Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

2005 Bottle at the RB Rochester Gathering, Aug. 30/ 09. Thanks, JB! Reddish-brown in color with a medium beige head and good retention. Earthy, malty aroma with caramel and wood. Flavor is lots of caramel malt with woody notes, brown sugar, and a hint of smoke. Creamy with a full palate. A very good scotch ale.

Bottle at home. Pours a clearish amber with an off-white head. Sweet with some bitter malt aromas. Very malty with aromas of caramel. Also aromas of marzipan. Hints of alcohol. Medium to full bodied. Medium carbonation.Long bitter and somewhat sweet finish.

Flaske: Rødlig brun øl med et fint skumhoved. Duft af frugt og masser af malt. Alkoholen er en kende for dominerende i smagen, hvor den eneste humle man kan ane er bitterhumlen, forholdsvis bitter af en så sød øl.

Bottle at Dayton Ale Fest. Pours a rich, dark brown with a very small tan head. Aroma is toaseted malts and caramel. Notes of oak, spices, and brown sugar come out. On the palate it is dry. The taste brings out a bit of the spices and it finishes dry. Overall, this is an alright Scotch Ale.

12 oz bottle courtesy of the Craig 12 pack. Pours a medium deep flat brown with some small moving bubbles. Flavors of spiced scotch, cramel malts, barrel flavors. Mouth is a little flat. A decent beer.

Bottle at the RB Rochester Gathering, Sept. 09. Thanks, JB. Red-orange tinted amber. Nose or caramel and fruits. Dry, hoppy, and roasted with good caramel. Rich and tasty, smooth, fruity. Good bitter finish. Lovely stuff.

What an amazingly balanced beer this is. It’s complex and thick, and the alcohol is well-disguised but with just enough presence that it subtly enhances the flavor. The hop content is pitch-perfect. Color is beautiful, and it tastes much better than it smells. Awesome brew.

12 oz bottle. Pours a dark amber with a small, lasting tan head. Nice, pervasive aromas of clover honey and caramel. Has a wonderfully thick, mouth feel. Strong tastes of sweet malt, caramel, allspice, and vanilla. Lighter on the hops, but enough to balance the sweetness well. Finishes with a nice bitterness and a sweet alcohol burn--comparable to the taste of scotch. I love it.
