Commercial Description:
Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

The aroma is strong, like a brown ale with boozy undertones. It is like a thick dark syrup in appearance with red hughes. Tastes delicious from a strong ale perspective in the tradition of a scotch ale. I know people who are scared to drink this style - ask Sean.

(Sample Date: 8/25/2009 Source:Capital Ale House - Downtown) Caramel and a light fruitiness in the aroma. Hazy amber brown. Big caramel maltiness with dark fruit notes and peat smoke. Dry moderately bitter finish.

Malty molasses nose with faint hints of wood, chestnut, and whiskey. Cloudy brown with a thick yellow head, good lacing, constant streams of carbonation. Well balanced blend of whiskey, malt, and oak. Bark finish. Medium mouthfeel. Hearty and well crafted.

Bottle. Medium high and lasting creamy off-white head leaving nice lacings. Hazy orange red body. Powerful barley malt aroma with caramel and choccolate and vague hint of vanilla. Mild malty creamy and hoppy choccolate flavor with a bit of sour berries. Low carbonation. Long malty aftertaste. Would not have guessed on such a high alcohol level.

Floral, meadow-like aroma, that is a touch tangy and blossomy. Starndard brown pour and weird drawing on label. The flavor is great - malty and sweet, but not syrupy, with notes of grassy hops and a bitter, herbal undertone (fifty IBU). A touch of yeast and bit of bourbon in the flavor as well. This is as complex and tasty a scotch ale as I can name. Bravo, Founders, for another excellent release.

Great beer. Wish I would’ve bought more. Good balance. Not way to mlaty like I was afraid of. Has a good spicy bite to it also. Can’t believe it’s 8.3%.
