It is like a thick dark syrup in appearance with red hughes. Tastes delicious from a strong ale perspective in the tradition of a scotch ale. I know people who are scared to drink this style - ask Sean. MaltDawg (778), Richmond, Virginia, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 11, 2009 Bottle. Medium high and lasting creamy off-white head leaving nice lacings. Hazy orange red body. Powerful barley malt aroma with caramel and choccolate and vague hint of vanilla. Mild malty creamy and hoppy choccolate flavor with a bit of sour berries. Low carbonation. Long malty aftertaste. Would not have guessed on such a high alcohol level. Slipstream (746), USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 10, 2009 Floral, meadow-like aroma, that is a touch tangy and blossomy. Starndard brown pour and weird drawing on label. The flavor is great - malty and sweet, but not syrupy, with notes of grassy hops and a bitter, herbal undertone (fifty IBU). A touch of yeast and bit of bourbon in the flavor as well. This is as complex and tasty a scotch ale as I can name. Bravo, Founders, for another excellent release.
