Light nose but great look. Smooth light body compared to what you might expect, very balanced. Mellow scotch/molasses flavor. Very good!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
From notes at bier baron in dc.
A: ruby red with brilliant clarity. Rim of creamy foam borders and climbs the rim. Spotty lacing.
S: dark malts, sweet caramel, a hint of tea.
T: not as sweet as would expect for the style. Toasty and dry. See nose for flavors.
M: medium to Heavy with medium carb. A hint dry on the finish.
O: not a bad beer. Wish it was a little sweeter for the style. I can see why so many love this beer. Just not my cup.
Serving type: on-tap

Boozy, malty, rainsiny aroma. Brown with a flat head. Medium carbonation. Long creamy finish. Cream is the keyword here, incredibly creamy. Fantastic palate for 8% beer. Good stuff

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
355 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a murky mahogany colour with thin beige cap. Aroma is rich and malty with brown sugar, toffee and dark fruits. Flavour has lots of sweetness but not cloyingly so, with brown sugar, toffee, prune, raisin and cherry. Lightly carbonated. Slick mouthfeel. Nice.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
355 ml bottle from LCBO, served cool in a tulip glass.
App.: Deep, clear ruby-mahogany with a nice orange-tan head.
Aroma: Very rich and sweet, tons of brown sugar, dark dried fruits, a little molasses, toffee and treacle, so malty, some cola-like herbal or warm spice notes, a little booze, inky and sticky and rich.
Palate: Medium+ body, moderate carbonation, a little prickly.
Flav.: A little less sweet and sticky than the nose, more dark, burnt sugar notes, black strap molasses, less fruity, still some treacle, some booze (nice on a winter’s day), maybe some pine/resin from hops?; not quite dry with pretty good bitterness and a long, thick, somewhat boozy and very deep/dark finish.
Very nice. Glad to see this in the LICK-BO.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Tavern 131 in Milford, MI. Dark color throughout, with light head. Strong taste, could be off-putting on first taste. But drink it a little more and you really enjoy the subtle flavors, including the comfortable aftertaste. Very drinkable -- high ABV but doesn’t overpower you. One of the best I’ve had.
