COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

First off, this is a SCOTTISH ale not a SCOTCH ale. But, if you disregard the name, this is a fine beer. Darker colored and very full flavored. But be careful... with 8.5% alcohol, these beers will knock you for a loop if you drink them like a typical lager.

12oz bottle from Wegmans, West Seneca, NY. A rich reddish chestnut pour with a thin cream head; syrupy butterscotch aroma; smooth and oily in the mouth, packed with rich toffee malts, and a pleasant peaty bitterness; then a syrupy finish with well-hidden, but warming, alcohol.

Bottle. Dark auburn with short tan head. Complex aroma of cherries, dark fruits, and caramel. Medium body and carbonation. Sweet flavor nicely followed by a hoppy bite. High alcohol content gives it a boozy warmth. This is a really great beer of the style.

12oz into a stemmed glass. Pours a super dark and rustic magenta/ruby/velvet. Head is mild and fades fast, lacing is creamy brown and hovers over everything. Aroma of sweet malts, barnyard organics, such as hay, dirt, grass, ... cherries, juicy dark fruits. Taste of sweet malts, tart cherry, velvet cake, with a bitter punch from the abv and the mascaraed of malts. Dark, poinioght, and enjoyable on a late January eve in BWAC waiting for the Pats to win the super bowl. Drinks like a syrup based amber with honey, yet still derives a bitter notch of surprise when paired with the abv. Coasting.

Pours a clear very dark amber body with a nice, fluffy light brown head. Nose has buttery and malty notes. Taste is sweet and warming with a bitter finish. Carbonation is low and feels creamy, palate is quite rich. Very nice and well balanced beer for slow enjoyment.

UPDATED: JAN 19, 2015 Mahogany appearance with a small. beige head and nice lacing. Earthy, malty aroma dotted with toffee and ripe fruit. Moderately sweet flavor with notes of caramel and dark fruit and an evolving complexity. Alcohol adds warmth to the aftertaste as a modest amount of spicy, floral hops add balance. Full bodied, softly carbonated mouthfeel leading to a lingering finish.

Dark ruby beer with a long lasting bubbly head. Aroma is sweet caramel, malts, raisins, ripe dark fruits, hint of alcohol. Taste is medium sweet, caramel malts, bready, fruity, a hint of alcohol. Medium plus mouthfeel, medium bitterness turn into warming alcohol. Really liked this one, just as expected. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a dark copper from a bottle. Aroma is caramel maltiness, flavor is the same with some bitterness on the backside. Mouthfeel is a rich round shape. Good beer.

12 Oz bottle. Pours clear dark brown with a big tan head. Aromas of cereal grain, brown sugar and cinammon. Medium sweet flavor with nice burnt caramel and dark fruit. Roasted bitterness hit in the middle to balance it, leaving a pleasant burnt sugar flavor. Full body with a thick mouthfeel and average carbonation. Overall, really good example of the style.

12oz picked up at AJ’s Fine Wine in Scottsdale. Aggressive pour left a 1" lite tan head... and little lacing.. slightly hazy light walnut brew with chestnut highlites when held to a light. Deep dark malts with significant caramel ... lite dark fruits and lighter chocolate... very toasty as it warms. Big body and lite whiffs of alcohol.. very creamy .. caramel with vanilly notes.. dark caramel and more rich toasty malts... no hops are present ... but some yeasty fruitiness could easily be mistaken for hops. Semi sweet for the style with a lingering dried fruit finish... yummy. A very good Scotch Ale .
