4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
A magical scotch bag of raisinets. A beautiful opaque dark ruby in the light, pours with a small head and some lacing. Smells sweet and peat. Tastes like the aforementioned sweeties with so much grown-up behind it. Just a touch of smoke, plenty of toffee, choccy and fruit along with the perfect bitterness that never lets on about the 50ibus and just the tiniest hint of the 8.5%. A session beer that will end your session well early. Hot contender for my favourite beer from an almost flawless brewery. Git in ma baelly wee man.

A very drinkable scotch ale. Strong notes of caramel and scotch. Would highly recommend it.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Mahogany pour with a very small head. Very malty, with raisin and toffee, oaky notes and a touch of peat and chocolate. Very rich and complex, nice full mouthfeel, well balanced. A great scotch ale.

It is ruby indeed. Great color and sticking head. It smells of sweet malt and mild roasty grains. Palate is lingering and boozy, but not overpowering. The abv WILL sneak up on you... get your money’s worth though! A solid malty style from my favorite brewery.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
An extremely rich brew that I had in bottle at Porterhouse in Dublin. Pours a dark muddy brown with a finger of dense beige head. The aroma is rich and malty with caramel and toffee notes in abundance. A bit sweet in the middle with light caramel apple flavours and hints of spice and earthy characters. The finish is heavy and rich with some boozy warmth as though aluding to its scotch namesake. Overall the best scotch ale Ive had.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle pour. Bottled but 3 weeks ago in Grand Rapids, where this was opened. Pours a deep brown/caramel color with a small head. This is peat, malt and smoke. A beer that would go down a treat with a whiskey chaser. All the typical characteristics of a Scotch ale but ramped up to a bold finish.

On tap at Malarkey’s in Lake of the Ozarks. Aroma is quite restrained - perhaps it is too cold and we will see if it opens up a bit. Beautiful copper-mahogany with light tan head that webs down the glass and leaves a dusting across the top with a full collar. Taste is rich caramel with overt chocolate and slightly smoky on the backend.

Very nice dark amber, decent head and carmel flavor. Very drinkable and not a heavy hops taste.
