Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

Pours a dark reddish brown with a slight tannish white head that quickly dies off. The beer has a spicy, sweet aroma of malts, caramel, vanilla and brown sugar. Flavor is full or malts up front with a lot of raisin and figs. The taste is kind of earthy with some alcohol on the finish, just the right amount to know its there but doesn?t overwhelm. The body on this one is medium to heavy, almost syrupy with low to medium carbonation. Overall a great beer, one of my favorite scotch ales.

Bottle at The Roebuck, Leek (Titanic) A clear ruby brown colour with a medium tan head. Aroma of bready and a little roasted malt, some chocolate, raisin, toffee and wood. Taste of toffee, caramel, chocolate, bready malt, subtle smoke, raisin, some prune, wood and slight brown sugar. Full bodied and moderate carbonation. A warming, slightly roasted chocolate bitterness in the finish. Mainly chocolatey and fruity with a little bitterness. A great take on a traditional scotch ale, lovely.

Pours from the bottle a dark brown with a fine tan head that lingers and fades quickly. First bite is roasted malt, caramel, a little sweet. For an 8.5 the alcohol isn’t overly pronounced, but it does add a pleasant warmth to the finish which is complex enough to keep me coming back.

Deep ruby with a short lived tan head. Sweet, rich malty goodness with a hint of smoke, peat and wood... I’d almost think it had been barrel aged. Nice hop presence which balances the sweetness well, making sure it isn’t cloying. Lovely stuff.

Bottiglia. Consigliata

This is the closest thing to Mac Andrews that I've been able to find, which is my favorite, but I haven't seen it here in the U.S. for decades. Unlike others, this has a nice hop balance. Others are nothing but malt. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma: Rich chocolate, muscrat grapes. Light rose, alcohol. Appearance: Clear, dark amber body. Small, tan head, fair retention. Lacing. Flavour: Medium licorice, munich malt, muscrat grapes, peat. Medium bitterness, raisin, Dry finish with lingering maltiness, peat. Medium-light alcohol. Mouthfeel: Light warming. Full body, Medium carbonation, cream. Overall: Rich, warming. The bitterness is not to style, making the beer less smooth. 355 ml bottle, poured. Thanks Andre! 9E. Strong Scotch Ale

Bottle from Ruprai, Birmingham. Really well balanced and tasty beer. Red brun coleur. Sticky gobfeel. Beguiling, growing taste: rich choc grain, with warming faintly burnt cereal hops. Hangs together great. Classy.
