Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer ďainít fer the wee ladsĒ

It pours a dark brown and yields the same color body. The body is too dark for any carbonation to be seen rising. There is a spectacular looking foamy, somewhat spider web lacing. The one inch white head dies within several seconds. The smell has the caramel up front with a bit of toffee, tobacco, and some dark fruits. The taste is basically the same with a bit of chocolate coming out. The palate is about a medium with an exceptionally smooth feel all around. There isnít any sharpness on the tongue. The alcohol does come out a bit, but its not overbearing, still drinkable for the most part. Overall, this is very impressive.

12 Fl. Oz. Poured reddish brown, with a light brown head and some spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoke, alcohol and caramel. Taste of dark fruit, malts, booze and caramel. Enjoyable, interesting, quite good.

35cl bottle. Clear dark ruby pour with a very small tan lacing. Smells of caramel and bourbon. Super smooth mouthfeel. Tastes like bourbon, caramel, toffee, very well balanced. An excellent scotch ale.

Thereís just something about good Scotch ales...the caramelly toffee flavor, the smooth maltyness that fills your mouth, and the smokey, alcohol-tinged finish. This is definitely a good Scotch ale.

Massive and lingering light brown head under a extremely dark Amber body. Slick and smooth but not thick. Sweet with some alcohol bite at the end.

I donít have too much experience with this style, but I recently enjoyed a few glasses of Orkney Skull Splitter on tap at the Foundry, and found that authentically Scottish Heavy Ale to be much preferable to this one. Poured a bottle of Dirty into a tall thin tulip and got some head. Reddish brown in color and smelling of darker malts, I drank it too cold at first and it was good, but lacking character, so I let it warm up for a while, and as it did, it fell apart into disparate components. It certainly is a complex mix of flavors, which arenít Scottish and donít really work well together. Pretty reminiscent of Lagunitas Brown Shugga with a bunch of extra things thrown in, smokiness, hoppiness, bitterness, molasses-ness, dark fruitiness and so on.

Bottle from Utobeer, London - UK. Color: deep dark brown beer with no carbonation and small brown head. Smell: roasted malt and caramel malt. Toffee, sweet domination, brown sugar. Small alcohol finish. Taste: full body with caramel and roasted caramel malt. Toffee domination. Alcohol taste. Boozy beer... Aftertaste: astringent alcohol taste with peat notes. Caramel and roasted malt. Very nice!

Founderís Dirty Bastard Scotch Ale 8.5% As Founders will be imported in 2016 I decided to crack this bottle Beercation hooked me up with. In my thistle glass this scotch ale is a dark brown verging on black. Itís got a nice malty plum, raisin and dark fruits aroma - rich and savoury. The taste is rich, malty, nutty, dark pitted fruit with a bit of bitter cocoa and dark chocolate. This is damn good stuff.

Bottle. Malty aroma of ryebread, caramel and overriped or dried fruits with roasted notes. The flavours starts very sweet but finish light bitter. Lingering hoppy finish. Light alcohol taste and warmth. The body is medium and the Texture is oily. Soft carbonation.
