COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

A dark reddish brown coloured der with a frothy tan coloured head. A strong rich aroma, raisiny fruit, vanilla spice and woody, with an alcoholic background. Medium mouthfeel. The taste follows on from the aroma, with all the richness, fruity, coffee, dark caramel vanilla and woody with a hint of smokiness, then a mildly sour alcoholic taste that refreshes the richness, leaving a well balanced but full finish.

Carlisle (180) - Pennsylvania, USA - APR 22, 2015
Bottle. Pours dark reddish brown with tan head and substantial lacing. Sweet aroma of peat with cherry notes. Sweet, rich malt, like toast, upfront. Smoke and some plum notes. Some fruit, plum and cherry, along with some bitterness in the finish. Mouthfeel is substantial but not heavy, just short of chewy. Some warming alcohol throughout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Surprised to the upside by this. I’ve had some off-tasting scotch ales in the past but this one is good. Quite sweet like a barley wine but not overpoweringly so. Lots of dried fruit, caramel and peat in the malt. Decent bitterness from the hops too.

Pours copperish brown with thin head and modest aroma: hint of chocolate. Rich body from the many malt varieties. Meal in a bottle!

Smells sweet and reminds me of homebrew. Dark brown with a little red in color. Small white head, not a lot of carbonation. Malty taste with some noticeable roasted malt flavor.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. Aroma- Big yeast aroma with some cocoa tossed in. Appearance- Pours a yellow brown with a small, light brown head. Taste- A good hop grain mix, tastes good Palate- a heavy bodied moderate carbonation beer. Overall- A really good scotch ale, this may be one of my favorites of that style.
