COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Founders flagship beer. Dirty Bastard is an absolute beautiful beer to behold. Dark ruby in color and brewed with ten varieties of imported malts this beer continuously lives up to its reputation as a bold and powerful ale. Dirty Bastard is complex in the finish with hints of smoke and peat paired with a malty richness, finalized with a good bit of hop attitude. This beer “ain’t fer the wee lads”

Liquid bread, the flavor of dark bread with spicy undertones. Rich and chewy a very good beer with a really nice hop finish.

Brunt utseende med høyt fint skum. Meget tiltalende aroma av karamell, sukker, malt og tørket frukt. I smaken finner jeg karamell, sukker, cola(?!) og tørket frukt. Utrolig fløyelsmyk i munnen. Jeg kjørte min på 12,2 grader celsius, noe som fungerte fint. Søt som fy, med en ekstremt vag surhet også. Tykk kropp. Minner mye om en Belgian Ale eller til og med en quadrupel.

Bottle from Ridgewood. Aroma: Caramel, dried fruit such as prunes, delicious. Appearance: Orange with a small white-ish head. Flavor: Same, with some licorice in the back which I wasn’t a super big fan of (sue me, I don’t like licorice.) Semi-easy to drink, there is a bit a balance but it is a bit sweet. It tastes sweeter than you’d expect for the APV. Nice.

It’s not been a great night for beer tasting. I wanted to cross off "English Pale Ale" from my list of styles, so chose a pale ale from England which was labelled as an English Pale Ale, but was actually categorised as an ESB. I’ve had a Cornish bitter which was pretty dreadful. Was hoping this was a "Scottish Ale" but again missed the nuance and it is a "Scotch Ale." So much for being a completist! However ... this is great. Lovely rich brown colour, rich and full bodied. Complex - there is dried fruit, brown bread, plum, dark treacle. The alcohol isn’t hidden but it doesn’t dominate in a harsh way. Big beer. The night is getting better. And we won the cricket!

From bottle. (aged). Pours unclear mahogany with a beige head. Aroma of ripe plums, caramel, butterscotch, some plums, figs and nice sweet malts in general. Taste is sweet but with some bitterness as well. Bitter nuts, caramel, ripe sweet fruits and some weak sweet esters. Ends with a weak almost vinous note at the end. Very good!
